How to quickly choose the right Little One

1) Herbivores (rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla, degu)

  • The foundation remains: unlimited hay . Choose a suitable, complete diet.
  • For extra variety: add small amounts of botanicals/snacks, tailored to the type.
  • Useful routes: Hay , Food , Grain-free feed

2) Omnivores (hamster, dwarf hamster, gerbil, rat, mouse)

  • Choose a complete base that suits your animal species and age.
  • For enrichment: forage by scattering (some of) the food and alternating it with suitable snacks.
  • You can find more help with choosing at: Hamster food and Mouse food

3) Supplements and “extras”

Some animal species have specific dietary needs. Choose supplements wisely and appropriately for your animal. See also: Vitamins & supplements .

Combining & feeding routine

  • Rest in the menu : do not change too often and build up food changes gradually.
  • Foraging : Scatter some of the food (where appropriate) to encourage natural foraging behaviour.
  • Snacks : give as an extra, not as a replacement for the basic food.
  • Water : always unlimited fresh water available.
  • Combine with furnishings : complete enrichment with cage furnishings (tunnels, hiding places, feeding areas).

Checklist: smart ordering within Mealberry Little One

  • First choose your basic food (based on animal species + age)
  • Add 1–2 snacks for variety/foraging
  • For herbivores: put hay on your list as a standard
  • For chinchillas: think of bath sand + a sandbox
  • Add gnawing material for activity and natural behavior

Safety & storage

  • Always check the product information on the packaging and on the product page.
  • Store food and snacks in a cool, dry place and tightly closed.
  • Introduce new foods gradually to allow for a smooth transition into the menu.
  • If you are unsure about what is suitable for your animal or situation, choose a simple base and expand later.

FAQ – Mealberry Little One

Is Mealberry Little One suitable for all rodents?
Little One offers products for multiple animal species. Always choose by species (and age/condition where relevant) and use snacks as a supplement.

What is Green Valley within Little One?
Green Valley is a popular line within our product range. You can find the variations listed with the products on this page.

Do I give snacks every day?
That's fine, as long as the amounts are small and the main focus is on basic nutrition. Use snacks primarily for interaction and foraging.

Do I need hay if I feed complete food?
For herbivores (such as rabbits and guinea pigs), hay is practically a staple food. See also: Hay .

Is bath sand only for chinchillas?
Chinchillas use bath sand as part of their grooming routine. Other animals may also enjoy sand, but always choose a type of sand that suits its purpose.

I'm not sure which Little One is right for my pet – what now?
Start with a suitable foundation (animal species/feeding style) and then add extras. Want to compare? Also check out our Nutrition and species pages.
