TRAVELING WITH THE HAMSTER
Sometimes the hamster has to leave the house. This can be for a visit to the vet or simply to a closer location. Then it is nice to have a safe and well-suited transport box at hand.
Preferably do not use cardboard boxes. Hamsters are rodents and cardboard has no chance against the "hamster teeth". In short, they gnaw through that.
A good transport box has a semi-closed bottom and a top with sufficient ventilation. However, the ventilation should not be too wide so that the animals cannot escape through it. You will find different types and sizes of transport boxes in our range. The larger transport boxes provide more space to place another house in the box, for example.
BRING YOUR OWN SCENT
A tip we can give is to place your own floor covering in the transport box. For example, are you going to pick up a hamster from the shelter or breeder? Then take some bedding from the nest and put it in the transport box. The animal then has its own familiar scent with it during transport.
