Little One Hamster Food contains 32 biologically appropriate ingredients according to Mealberry, without ingredients that are harsh on the cheek pouches. This makes this food practical for the daily feeding bowl and fun to use partly as scatter food in a hamsterscaping enclosure.

Syrian hamsters are active, solitary animals that enjoy collecting, hoarding, and eating in various places in their enclosure. A varied mix suits this well, as your hamster not only receives food but also has something to explore.
Little One Hamster Food contains, among other things, wheat, red millet, white sorghum, barley, multigrain pellets, hulled oats, sunflower seeds, barley flakes, corn flakes, buckwheat, carob, pea flakes, puffed wheat, puffed corn, puffed barley, peanuts, sweet lupine flakes, dried carrots, and pumpkin seeds. This creates a mix with a wide variety of aromas, flavors, and textures.
Because this food contains no added animal protein, you can specifically offer animal protein yourself as a snack. Consider, for example, dried mealworms, crickets, soldier fly larvae, or a suitable insect mix. You can easily order these along with your food via our category of animal protein for rodents .
This food has been developed for Syrian hamsters/golden hamsters. For dwarf hamsters, it is preferable to choose a specific dwarf hamster food with finer ingredients and a composition that is better suited to small dwarf hamsters. For mice, gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, it is preferable to choose a food that is specifically formulated for that animal species.
Little One Hamster Food contains no added animal protein. This is convenient if you want to consciously control which proteins you provide and how often. Hamsters can benefit greatly from animal protein as part of a varied diet, for example via a small portion of insect mix, mealworms, crickets, or other suitable insect snacks.
By offering animal proteins separately, you keep a close eye on the quantity. Moreover, you can use it as a foraging moment, for example by hiding a few insects in a snack mat, digging box, or among natural materials.
Mealberry recommends approximately 10–20 grams of Little One Hamster Food per hamster per day, depending on the size of your hamster. For many Syrian hamsters, about 15 grams per day is a practical middle ground, but always observe your own animal, its body condition, activity level, and how much is being hoarded.
| Usage | How to offer it? | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Daily diet | Put in a food bowl and only refill when the mix has been completely eaten. | This way, you keep better track of intake and selective eating. |
| Foraging | Scatter a small amount in a dry spot or hide it in a foraging zone. | This is how you turn part of the meal into a natural search moment. |
| Animal proteins | Supplement separately with suitable insects or protein snacks. | According to Mealberry, offer a maximum of twice a week. |
Hamsters are kept solitary. Therefore, we calculate below based on 1 hamster. The indication is based on the Mealberry feeding recommendation: 10–20 grams per hamster per day. For an average Syrian hamster, around 15 grams per day is often used.
| Daily portion | About 900 grams lasts | Handy for |
|---|---|---|
| 10 g per day | approx. 90 days | Small or quiet hamster |
| 15 g per day | approx. 60 days | Average practical calculation |
| 20 g per day | approx. 45 days | Larger or more active hamster |
Calculation aid: 900 grams ÷ daily portion = number of days. Actual consumption depends on size, age, activity, feeding method, and how much your hamster hoards or leaves behind.
Wheat, red millet, white sorghum, barley, multigrain pellets, hulled oats, sunflower seeds, barley flakes, corn flakes, buckwheat, carob, pea flakes, puffed wheat, puffed corn, puffed barley, peanuts, corn, sweet lupine flakes, dried carrot, pumpkin seeds, fructo-oligosaccharides, yucca extract.
This composition is suitable for hamsters that enjoy searching for, collecting, and hoarding various components. The seeds, grains, pellets, flakes, and puffed ingredients provide texture variety, while carob, carrot, peanuts, and pumpkin seeds add extra aroma and flavor to the mix. FOS and yucca extract further complement the recipe.

Protein 13.2%, fat 6.4%, fiber 6%, ash 5%, calcium 0.8%, phosphorus 0.5%, vitamin A 3298 IU, vitamin D3 352 IU, vitamin E 22 mg, biotin 66 mcg, copper sulphate(II) 1.1 mg, zinc sulphate 11 mg, potassium iodide 0.44 mg.

Switch gradually when changing food. Mix the new food with the old food for the first few days and gradually increase the proportion of Little One Hamster Food. This allows your hamster to get used to the new scent, taste, and mix texture.
Little One Hamster Food performs best in an active hamster enclosure with deep bedding, nesting material, a sand bath, houses, tunnels, a running wheel, and foraging opportunities. Precisely because this mix contains various components, you can use it effectively to stimulate natural foraging behavior.
