If we indicate "Hamster", then the cage is suitable for both dwarf hamsters and Syrian hamsters (also known as golden hamsters). As a guideline, we recommend a minimum size of 70 x 50 cm for dwarf hamsters and 100 x 50 cm for Syrian hamsters (source: LICG). But remember, bigger is always better for the animals' well-being!

For dwarf hamsters this means a minimum of 3500 cm² (70 x 50 cm) of ground surface and for Syrian hamsters a minimum of 5000 cm² (100 x 50 cm) . These are guidelines, but the ground surface is essential. The enclosure can therefore vary in size as long as the ground surface complies with the recommended dimensions.

For the well-being of your hamster, minimum dimensions are important:

• Dwarf hamsters : minimum 70 × 50 cm (3,500 cm²)
• Syrian hamsters (golden hamsters) : minimum 100 × 50 cm (5,000 cm²)

Bigger is always better! A spacious enclosure allows your hamster to dig, run and display natural behaviour.

2. Protected Front Grille

At the front of the terrarium is another grille that also covers the entire length. This grille acts as the inlet point for fresh air from outside the terrarium. What is essential here is that this grille is protected with a gnaw-proof profile, so that your pets cannot damage it.

3. Natural Convection

The ventilation system uses the principle of natural convection. This means that warm air rises while cold air sinks. This phenomenon is known as thermosiphon. The warm air in the terrarium rises to the upper grille at the top of the terrarium.

4. Air circulation

This natural thermosiphon circulation principle creates a continuous air circulation. This means that the warm, used air in the terrarium is discharged through the upper grille, while fresh air is drawn in from outside through the low, rodent-proof grille at the front. This creates a continuous air exchange, bringing fresh air into the terrarium and removing used air.
