Instructions for use Cotton & Granule Ground Covering

Cotton & Granules as a substrate for small rodents (Mouse, Dwarf Hamster, Hamster, Gerbil)
For small rodents, Cotton & Pellet is ideal as a substrate that protects the floor of the enclosure. Gerbils, in particular, tend to completely bury themselves in standard substrate and then urinate on the floor of the enclosure. A substrate can prevent this. Cotton & Pellet is not suitable as a standard substrate for these small rodents because, unfortunately, Cotton & Pellet is not burrowable, preventing the animals from exhibiting their natural behavior.

Cotton & Granules as bedding for large rodents (Rat, Guinea Pig, Rabbit, Chinchilla, Degu)
Fill the enclosure until the bottom is completely covered with cotton and granules. The layer should be at least 5 cm deep, so the bedding covers the enclosure floor well and provides sufficient absorbency.

Both mice and rats have a fairly strong urine odor, which is easily detected in most bedding. However, Cotton & Granules is exceptionally effective at retaining odors. We therefore recommend using Cotton & Granules in the litter box for rats.
