Product description

The Natural Pet Brand Card N Card Brown 30 Liters

The Natural Pet Brand Card N Card Brown is a premium, very high-quality cardboard bedding made from cleaned cardboard pieces. The Natural Pet Brand is known for its superior quality, and this is reflected in this bedding: airy, practical, playful, and ideal for allowing animals to actively search, sniff, dig, and forage.

At DRD, when it comes to cardboard bedding, we focus primarily on application, structure, coat friendliness, and what the material adds to the animal's natural behavior. Card N Card Brown is particularly strong as a top layer, sniffing layer, foraging layer, or digging box filling. You can spread it on top of existing base bedding or use it in a separate enrichment box, giving your animal more variety, structure, and activity.

Why choose Card N Card Brown?

Card N Card Brown is a bedding material with a clear enrichment function. The cardboard pieces add volume and structure to the floor, ensuring that animals do not just walk on a flat layer, but actually have something to move through, search in, and occupy themselves with.

This brown cardboard bedding works very well as a top layer on top of cotton, hemp, flax, wood fiber, paper, or another base bedding. The base bedding provides comfort and absorption, while Card N Card Brown adds extra structure, airiness, and play value. This makes the enclosure more interesting without having to immediately replace the entire floor.

Furthermore, the cardboard structure is pleasant for long-haired animals, as coarse cardboard pieces are less likely to get stuck in the fur than fine, fibrous bedding. This makes Card N Card Brown a great choice for owners looking for a practical top layer that is easy to check and refresh locally.

For which animals is Card N Card Brown suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a playful top layer, sniffing layer, and foraging layer. Because mice are social animals and should be kept with other mice, you can create multiple small foraging and nesting spots.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a top layer in a hamsterscaping enclosure. Sprinkle small amounts over the base bedding or use it in a foraging corner.
  • Hamster: suitable as a playful top layer and foraging layer. For Syrian hamsters, it is best to combine Card N Card Brown with a deep base bedding in which they can really dig.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a top layer, nesting material, and burrow filling. Because gerbils are social animals and should be kept with other gerbils, it is best to combine the cardboard layer with a sturdy base layer, hay, tunnels, and gnawing material.
  • Dwarf rat: suitable as a top layer, sniffing layer, nesting material, or digging box filling. Dwarf rats can vary in size and behavior, so adjust layer thickness and quantity to your group.
  • Rat: very suitable as a top layer, nesting material, foraging layer, or Ratscaping burrow filling. For rats, this mix is especially fun when you hide food or snacks in it.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a soft, practical top layer or sniffing layer. Because guinea pigs are social animals and should be kept with other guinea pigs, you can create multiple foraging spots.
  • Rabbit: suitable as a top layer, digging box material, or playful foraging layer. For the daily basics, hay, toilet bedding, and suitable bedding remain important.
  • Ferret: suitable as sniffing, playing, or digging box filling, for example in a separate enrichment box or play corner.

For chinchillas and degus, cardboard can be used as an enrichment layer or sniffing zone when it fits the setup, but for the daily basics, a dry substrate, sand bath, platforms, gnawing material, and appropriate enrichment remain important.

Use & maintenance

Card N Card Brown can be used in various ways. As a top layer, it provides extra structure on top of existing bedding. As a foraging layer, you hide small amounts of food, herbs, or snacks in it. As digging box filling, you use a deeper layer in a separate bin or zone.

  • Use approximately 5–10 cm as a top layer for small rodents.
  • Use about 10–20 cm for rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and ferrets when you really want to create a play or foraging layer.
  • Use a wider layer for a digging box so that animals can really search and dig in it.
  • Optionally, scatter herbs, food, or snacks through it for extra foraging fun.
  • Regularly replace wet spots, toilet corners, and soiled areas with fresh material.
  • Refresh the entire layer when it no longer stays fresh.
  • The color of the cardboard can vary; therefore, it does not always have to be completely brown.
  • Check how your animal handles the bedding upon first use.

How much Card N Card Brown do you need?

With this calculator, you can quickly estimate how many liters of bedding you need. This variant contains approximately 30 liters per package.

Formula: length × width × layer thickness in cm ÷ 1000 = number of liters of bedding.

Dwelling / box 5 cm layer 10 cm layer 15 cm low 20 cm low
60 × 40 cm 12 liter 24 liter 36 liter 48 liter
80 × 40 cm 16 liter 32 liter 48 liter 64 liter
100 × 50 cm 25 liter 50 liter 75 liter 100 liter

Top layer, forage layer and digging bucket

Card N Card Brown is particularly strong as a play layer. Scatter the cardboard pieces on top of a base bedding and hide small pieces of food, herbs, or snacks inside. Your animal will then really have to search, dig, and sniff. This makes the enclosure more active and interesting without having to immediately replace the entire bedding.

For small rodents, you can use Card N Card Brown as a top layer in a hamsterscaping or gerbilscaping enclosure. For rats, the mix fits very nicely in a Ratscaping digging box, nesting box, or foraging zone. For guinea pigs, rabbits, and ferrets, Card N Card Brown is especially fun in a separate digging box or sniffing corner.

Combine with other bedding

Card N Card Brown works very well on top of an existing base layer. For example, use a soft cotton bedding, hemp, flax, wood fiber, or paper/cardboard as a base and finish with Card N Card Brown as a playful top layer. This way, you combine absorption, comfort, and enrichment in one enclosure.

  • Use Card N Card Brown as a top layer on top of cotton, hemp, flax, wood fiber, or paper bedding.
  • Combine with hay or extra cardboard for more nesting and digging structure.
  • Hide food or snacks between the cardboard pieces for foraging.
  • Use a separate digging box when you want to stimulate targeted play and searching behavior.
  • Create clear zones: sleeping, digging, toilet, sand bath, foraging, and resting.
