The Trixie Digging Tower 25 cm is a fun extra digging spot for small rodents who enjoy digging, scurrying, and moving around in a sheltered environment. You fill the tower with diggable bedding, allowing your animal to explore, burrow, and create small burrows or tunnels on its own.
The transparent window allows you to easily observe the digging behavior, while your animal still has a sheltered spot to keep busy. This makes this digging tower not only fun to watch but also valuable as an enrichment addition to a hamster, mouse, or gerbil enclosure.
✔ Extra digging area: ideal for creating a separate zone where your animal can actively dig and explore.
✔ With viewing window: great for better observing tunnels, burrows, and digging behavior.
✔ Wooden version: fits nicely with natural decor, hamsterscaping, and gerbilscaping.
✔ Sheltered shape: provides small rodents with a quiet place to forage and explore.
✔ Handy as a separate digging zone: especially nice when you cannot fill the entire enclosure extra deep.
Many small rodents have a strong need to dig, search, and move around their environment in a sheltered spot. In a well-designed enclosure, you therefore provide not only houses and food, but also places where your animal can be actively engaged. The Trixie Digging Tower makes it easy to add such an extra digging spot.
The tower acts as a separate digging zone within the enclosure. You fill it with suitable bedding and let your animal discover for itself how to use the space. Some animals dig straight down, while others use the opening primarily as a hiding place or sniffing spot. It is precisely this freedom of choice that makes this product interesting.
For owners, the digging tower also has a practical advantage: the window provides a view of what is happening inside. Especially with animals that enjoy making tunnels, it is fun to watch them move the bedding and create their own route.
The Trixie Digging Tower fits well into a natural-style enclosure. You can use it as a separate digging zone alongside deep bedding, a sand bath, tunnels, cork, moss, and wooden houses. This provides your animal with multiple functions within the enclosure: digging, hiding, foraging, washing, walking, and resting.
For hamsterscaping, the tower is particularly interesting when you want to add extra structure. For example, you can place it partially against a high bedding zone so that your animal can move from one zone to the other. For gerbilscaping, the tower can be a fun extra digging challenge, provided it is sturdy and checked regularly.
Use a bedding material that provides sufficient structure. Bedding that is too loose or too heavy will not stand as well. Often, a combination works best, as different materials together provide more stability.
Suitable options include, for example, Cotton N Cotton ,Cotton N Fibre , wood fiber , hemp , or Carefresh . For animals that really want to make tunnels, a mix of multiple materials is often better than a single loose layer.
You can optionally combine the tower with extra tunnels, cork, or a small hiding place nearby. This creates a logical route within the enclosure, so the digging tower feels not like a standalone object, but rather as part of the layout.
No, the digging tower is intended as extra enrichment and not as a replacement for a spacious enclosure with sufficient bedding. For animals that like to dig, a good layer of bedding in the enclosure remains important. The digging tower is primarily useful as an additional digging zone or as an extra place where your animal can dig purposefully.
So use the tower as an extra choice spot. This fits well with a setup where your animal has multiple options: a deep digging layer, houses, tunnels, sand, nesting material, and foraging areas.
For larger hamsters, always check that the opening and interior space fit properly. A digging spot must be easily accessible and should not become a narrow passage.
Composition: wood with transparent plastic window.
Wood is a natural material. As a result, color, structure, and finish may vary slightly from product to product. Check the wood regularly for wear, gnaw marks, and rough edges.

The Trixie Digging Tower is intended as enrichment and an extra digging area within a well-furnished enclosure. Offer the product only under supervision and check regularly for wear, loose parts, gnawing damage, and stability. If the tower becomes wet, dirty, sharp, or unstable, remove it from the enclosure. For larger or heavier animals, a more spacious and sturdier digging element is usually more suitable.
Yes, the digging tower can be great fun for dwarf hamsters. Fill it with a sturdy, diggable bedding so your dwarf hamster can burrow, dig, and explore.
That depends on the size of your hamster. Carefully check if the opening of approximately ⌀ 10 cm is wide enough and if your hamster can comfortably get in and out of the tower.
Yes, for mice, this is a nice extra place to play, hide, and dig. Especially in a naturally designed enclosure, the tower provides extra variety.
Yes, gerbils can use the tower as a digging and exploration site. Place it securely and check regularly for gnawing damage, as gerbils can actively work on wood.
Bedding with some structure works best. Think of Cotton N Cotton, Cotton N Fibre, Carefresh, hemp, or wood fiber, possibly as a combination.
No, the digging tower is not an enclosure. It is an additional enrichment product within a well-furnished enclosure with sufficient bedding, hiding places, and other basic necessities.
The transparent window makes it possible to see part of the digging behavior. That is fun for you, while your animal still has its own sheltered digging spot.
Yes, regularly check if the tower is still standing firmly, if the wood is in good condition, and if there are no rough edges, loose parts, or gnawing damage.
