Crinkle Nesting Material is an airy, rustling paper material that can be used in various ways in the enclosure. It is fun as soft nest filling, a playful top layer, or a foraging layer in which you can hide treats. The crumpled paper structure creates movement, sound, and variety as your animal walks, sniffs, or searches through it.
This makes Crinkle particularly interesting for animals that love to explore. Mice, hamsters, gerbils, and rats can take it to their nest or drag it through the furnishings. Guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, degus, and ferrets can use it as a play or sniffing layer. Crinkle paper can also be fun for birds as enrichment material, for example, to rummage through or search in.
✔ Soft and airy: pleasant as nesting material or a loose play layer in the enclosure.
✔ Great for foraging: hide small snacks, herbs, or flowers among the strands and let your animal search.
✔ Rustling effect: the crumpled structure makes moving through the layer extra interesting.
✔ Practical as a top layer: sprinkle it over the existing bedding for more variety and play value.
✔ Easy to use: lightweight material that is easy to divide, replace, and combine.
An enclosure becomes more interesting when your animal doesn't find everything immediately in one fixed spot. With Crinkle, you can easily create a playful layer in which small snacks, dried herbs, or flowers can be hidden. Your animal then has to sniff, search, and move to find the treats. This aligns nicely with natural foraging behavior.
Crinkle is particularly suitable as an extra layer on top of normal bedding. The standard bedding forms the basis for absorption, digging, or comfort, while Crinkle provides extra structure and enrichment. This way, you add more variety to the enclosure without having to change the entire setup.
It is preferable not to use Crinkle as the sole bedding for the entire enclosure. The loose structure is fun as a play layer, nesting material, or for enrichment, but as a base layer, a suitable underlay is usually more practical.
First, fill the enclosure with a suitable base bedding. Then, sprinkle a loose layer of Crinkle over part of the enclosure. For small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, a layer of approximately 5 to 10 cm is often sufficient as a playful top layer.
For larger animals such as rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, degus, and ferrets, you can use a more spacious play layer, depending on the size of the enclosure or sniffing box. Optionally, scatter small snacks, herbs, or flowers between the Crinkle and let your animal search for them itself.
Give Crinkle in loose clumps or place a small amount near the sleeping house. Small rodents can then take the material to their nest themselves. Rats like to use Crinkle to supplement sleeping spots, for example in houses, baskets, or hanging places.
Check the nesting material regularly. Remove wet, heavily soiled, or flattened areas and replenish when necessary. This keeps the sleeping area fresh and pleasant.
Crinkle is available in various colors, such as blue, pink, and green. The color primarily serves a decorative purpose and makes the enclosure or sniffing box extra cheerful. This is nice for owners who like to create a playful interior or use a color theme in the enclosure.
Composition: paper.
The crumpled paper texture provides volume, airiness, and a rustling effect. As a result, the material is not only practical as nest filling but also interesting as enrichment and a play layer.
Always use Crinkle as a supplement to a suitable basic setup. For animals that like to dig, such as hamsters and gerbils, a good layer of diggable bedding remains important. Check the material regularly and remove soiled parts. If you notice that your animal is eating a lot of the paper instead of playing with it or nesting, remove it and choose another type of enrichment.
Crinkle is particularly suitable as a top layer, play layer, foraging layer, or nesting material. As the sole bedding, it is less practical because the loose structure does not form a solid base for the entire enclosure.
Yes, hamsters can use Crinkle as a sniffing layer or additional nesting material. Especially when you hide small snacks or herbs in between, it becomes a fun foraging layer.
Yes, rats often really like Crinkle. They can drag it around, mess with it, and use it to fill out sleeping spots or little houses.
Yes, Crinkle can be used as a playful layer or as filling in a sniffing box for rabbits. However, use it as enrichment and not as the main filling of the enclosure.
You can scatter small snacks, dried herbs, flowers, or pieces of food between the Crinkle. This way, you instantly turn feeding into a search game.

Absolute aanradee!
