Tip! This sandbox can also be used as a digging area for dwarf hamsters. Fill the sandbox with playful substrate such as Safebed , Cotton N Card , or coconut fiber , then scatter some treats around and let your little friend search for them.

Fill the sandbox with sufficient chinchilla sand . By sufficient, we mean a layer thick enough for bathing and high enough for the animals to climb out of the sandbox. Use only chinchilla sand as bathing sand. Other types of sand are less or not suitable. Shell sand should never be used, as it is too sharp and can damage the animals' skin and fur.

Because the sandbox has openings at the top, it can even be largely buried under the substrate if desired. Placing the sandbox deeper in the substrate also helps the animals get in. It's also a lot of fun to watch the animals bathe from the front!

Be careful with older animals! Because the sandbox has openings at the top, the animals must be athletic enough to climb out. This can be a problem, especially with older dwarf hamsters. Always ensure there's plenty of sand, or choose a sandbox with side openings for an older animal.
