Product description

Trixie Corner Toilet 16 cm for small rodents

The Trixie Corner Toilet 16 cm is a handy plastic toilet for small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, and hamsters. Many small rodents naturally choose one fixed corner or spot in their enclosure to urinate. When you place a corner toilet in that spot, cleaning often becomes much easier.

Because the litter box is made of plastic, you can easily empty and wipe it clean. This is convenient for daily checks, especially when your animal has a designated potty spot. The compact corner model takes up little space and therefore fits well in smaller enclosures or in a quiet toilet corner of a hamsterscape.

In short

  • Plastic corner toilet of approximately 16 cm
  • Suitable for mice, dwarf hamsters, and hamsters
  • Useful for animals that choose a fixed pee spot
  • Easy to clean
  • Can also be used as a small sandbox
  • Available in green, turquoise and grey

Advantages of the Trixie Corner Toilet 16 cm

Easy to clean: plastic is practical for daily toilet checks.
Saves on bedding: you often only need to maintain the litter box instead of replacing a large section of bedding.
Compact corner model: fits neatly in a corner of the enclosure.
Can also be used as a sand bath: handy for small rodents who like to bathe in chinchilla sand.
In multiple colors: available in green, turquoise, and gray.

Why choose a corner toilet?

A corner toilet helps keep the enclosure more organized and fresh. If your pet consistently urinates in the same spot, you can place a small toilet there with an absorbent litter. This keeps the urine spot more concentrated, and cleaning is often quicker.

Toilet training does not always work for small rodents as it does for larger animals, but many hamsters and dwarf hamsters do choose a fixed spot to urinate. By carefully observing where your animal urinates, you can place the litter box in the right place. Sometimes it is used immediately, sometimes it takes a while for your animal to get used to it.

The corner toilet can also be used as a small sand bath. Fill it with a layer of suitable chinchilla sand or hamster sand . However, use the toilet either as a toilet or as a sand bath, so that it remains clear for your pet and hygienic for you.

For which animals is this corner toilet suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a small toilet or sandbox, depending on the decor and the behavior of your mice.
  • Dwarf hamster: very suitable as a small corner toilet or sand bath. Many dwarf hamsters choose a fixed urination spot.
  • Hamster: suitable as a corner toilet, especially when your hamster uses one clear urination spot.
  • Gerbil: less logical as a toilet, but potentially usable as a small sandbox. A larger sandbox is often more pleasant for gerbils.
  • Rat and pygmy rat: usually too small. Preferably choose a larger litter box for rats.
  • Guinea pig and rabbit: too small as a practical toilet. Larger toilets or litter boxes are better suited for these animals.
  • Chinchilla and degu: not intended as primary toilets. For sand baths, larger, sturdier sandboxes are usually better.

How do you use the Trixie Corner Toilet?

  • First, check where your animal usually pees.
  • Place the corner toilet exactly in that spot.
  • Fill the toilet with a thin layer of suitable toilet paper.
  • If necessary, place a few old droppings or a small amount of used litter in the toilet so that the smell is recognizable.
  • Remove wet spots daily and top up where necessary.
  • Clean the toilet regularly and let it dry thoroughly before putting it back.

Do not move the litter box too often. Small animals recognize places strongly by scent and routine. If you keep placing the litter box in a different spot, it may take longer for your animal to understand what it is intended for.

Need to add toilet filler? This works best in a toilet.
For a fresh toilet and easy scooping, we recommend a filler that absorbs moisture well and keeps the toilet area tidy.
Toilet filler for rodents and rabbits

Quick selection guide
  • Choose a filling that absorbs well.

Use as a sandbox

The Trixie Corner Toilet 16 cm can also be used as a small sand bath for dwarf hamsters, for example. Simply fill the tray with a layer of suitable chinchilla sand or hamster sand. A sand bath helps hamsters keep their fur clean and airy and is often a favorite spot in the enclosure.

Preferably, do not use the same container as both a toilet and a sand bath at the same time. If your animal uses the sand bath as a toilet, change the sand regularly. If the container remains mostly clean and your animal actually bathes in it, you can use it as a compact sand area.

Cleaning and maintenance

Plastic is easy to clean. Empty the litter box, remove any wet filling, and wipe the tray with a damp cloth or a suitable cleaning agent for animal enclosures. Rinse or wipe away any residue thoroughly and let the litter box dry before putting it back.

Check regularly for gnaw marks, cracks, or sharp edges. If the plastic becomes damaged or your animal starts actively gnawing on it, remove the litter box from the enclosure.

Dimensions and variants

  • Size: approximately 16 cm
  • Material: plastic
  • Colors: green, turquoise and gray
  • Suitable for: mouse, dwarf hamster and hamster

Compound

Composition: plastic.

Plastic is practical for a litter box because you can empty and clean it quickly. It is not gnawing material. Therefore, provide animals that like to gnaw with suitable gnawing material in the enclosure.

Good to know

The Trixie Corner Toilet 16 cm is intended as a small toilet or sand bath for mice, dwarf hamsters, and hamsters. Use the product under supervision and check regularly for wear, gnaw marks, and sharp edges. Not every animal uses a toilet immediately; give your animal time and place the toilet in the spot where your animal already likes to urinate.
