Alpen Bergweidehooi 5 kg is premium hay from De Knaagdier Kruidenier®. This natural, sun-dried hay from mountain meadows is intended for owners who consciously choose a high-quality hay base with scent, structure, and fiber. For herbivorous animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, hay is an important part of their daily diet. These animals eat small amounts of hay throughout the day and use it for prolonged chewing, foraging, and keeping occupied.
For small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, hay plays a different role. They use hay primarily as natural nesting material, structural material, and landscaping material. You can mix it with bedding or incorporate it in layers to give the setup more stability and a natural look.

De Knaagdier Kruidenier® stands for natural products that suit the daily behavior of rodents and rabbits. This Alpine Mountain Meadow Hay fits in perfectly. It is a fiber-rich natural product that is not only eaten, but also encourages searching, selecting, chewing, and activity.
Hay is much more than “dry grass”. For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, hay forms an important part of their daily routine. These animals need fiber-rich roughage and enjoy spending a lot of time chewing and selecting. A good hay base helps you provide those natural eating moments throughout the day.
Alpine meadow hay has a natural texture and scent. The variation in stems, leaves, and fine parts makes it interesting to pick through. Some animals eat mainly the softer parts, while others choose coarser blades. This variation is characteristic of natural hay and makes the daily hay supply more attractive.
The 5 kg package is practical for owners who use a lot of hay daily. Hay runs out quickly, especially with guinea pigs and rabbits, because it is not only eaten but is sometimes also used to lie in, search through, or rummage through. A larger package provides more stock and is handy when you have multiple animals.
For rats, hay usually has no clear function in daily care. Rats do not use hay as an essential staple like guinea pigs and rabbits do, and dusty hay can be unpleasant for their sensitive airways. Therefore, for rats, it is preferable to choose suitable nesting material, bedding, tunnels, platforms, and enrichment that better suits their behavior.
For herbivorous animals, hay is a fixed part of the day. Ensure that clean, dry hay is always available. You can offer the hay in a hay rack, hay sack, hay bin, or at a designated hay spot. Which method works best depends on your animal and the layout of the enclosure.
For guinea pigs and rabbits, it is often helpful to offer hay in multiple locations. This prevents one animal from hogging the best spot and encourages natural foraging behavior. A hay spot near the litter box can be practical, as many rabbits and guinea pigs like to eat while sitting on their toilet area.
Replace hay that is wet, dirty, or trampled. Hay should remain fresh and dry. Therefore, preferably do not place it directly under a water bottle or in an area where there is a lot of urination.
For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, hay is used primarily differently. They do not require an unlimited hay ration like guinea pigs and rabbits, but hay can be of great value in their enclosure. Small tufts of hay can be used for nests, pathways, structure, and natural variety.
For hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping, you can incorporate hay in thin layers between the bedding. This gives the floor more structure and allows the enclosure to look more natural. Hay can also help provide more stability to tunnels and burrows, especially when combined with a suitable burrowing bedding.
For small rodents, it is best not to use large quantities at once. Small tufts are often sufficient. Also, check that there are no long, stiff, or sharp parts mixed in with the food in places where your animal makes a nest.
Alpine meadow hay.
This hay is a natural product. As a result, scent, color, length, and structure may vary slightly from package to package. This is normal for hay and is part of the natural character of the product.
Alpine Mountain Meadow Hay from De Knaagdier Kruidenier® fits well into daily care as well as a natural interior. You can combine it with:
Store the hay in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place. Do not seal the packaging airtight after use if there may still be moisture in or around the hay. Hay remains at its best when it can breathe and is not stored in a damp room.
Check the hay before use. Good hay should smell fresh and natural. Do not use hay that smells musty, is visibly damp, or has moldy spots. Replace hay in the enclosure as soon as it is dirty, wet, or trampled.
For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, hay is a daily staple. For small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, use hay primarily as nesting and landscaping material. Always offer hay clean and dry and check regularly to ensure it remains fresh. For animals sensitive to dust, it is advisable to gently shake out the hay first and avoid using dusty remnants.
Alpine Mountain Meadow Hay is suitable as a daily hay base for guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus. For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, it can be used as nesting and landscaping material.

Super lekker ruikend groen hooi
Goede kwaliteit, ruikt lekker, mijn konijn is heel tevreden!
Goede kwaliteit hooi
Heerlijk! Mijn konijn houdt ervan en eet met een grote trek. Hooi is groen als het zal, het ruikt fris. Verschillende strengen - kort, lang, hard, minder hard. Prima!
Hooi was heel kort.
