Product description

Wall Hay Rack for Rodents & Rabbits!

The Trixie Wall hay rack is a practical hay rack that can easily be hung in the enclosure. The hay rack is closed from the top with a lid so that the animals cannot jump into it. The Wall Hay Rack can be used as a basic hay rack.

100% Untreated certified natural wood
Lockable roof
100% Nail Free

The hay rack is not only practical, but also beautiful to look at and can even be used by the animals as a lookout post thanks to the flat roof. The bars of the hay rack have a good distance from each other and are rounded. The rack has a very natural look thanks to the bark wood and fits ideally in a natural interior!

Refilling the hay is very easy by pushing the lid up and pushing the hay into the rack.

Did you know that this hay rack meets the strict requirements of the Animal Welfare Legislation?

This hay rack was designed together with the German Animal Protection Society in accordance with the strictest animal welfare regulations? It really is! This hay rack is designed in accordance with Article 18 (AT) of the German Animal Welfare Legislation.

What is a good bar spacing for a hay rack?

A good quality hay rack should be designed so that rodents can fit their snout between the bars, but not their entire head. The suitable bar spacing depends on the animal species and the size of the animal. In general, the following distances are recommended:

Guinea pigs: about 3 cm
Degus: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Chinchillas: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Dwarf rabbits: about 3 to 3.5 cm
Medium rabbits: up to about 4 cm
Large rabbits: up to about 4.5 cm

It is very important that the animals cannot put their heads through the bars, otherwise they could become trapped. This is different if the bars are very far apart and the animals can move their heads back and forth with ease. If you notice that your rodent's head just fits through the bars and could possibly become trapped, it is advisable to remove the hay rack from the enclosure and choose one with a smaller bar spacing.

Should I be concerned about resin?

No that is not necessary. This bark wood contains fewer resin channels and undergoes a careful drying process to ensure that it is completely free of resin and other saps that naturally occur in wood. During this process, the wood is exposed to controlled conditions of heat and airflow, which gradually removes any residual moisture.

In addition, the wood complies with European directives and is inspected by the German animal protection agency to ensure that it meets the highest standards of safety and quality.
