The Trixie Box is made of durable plastic and has a colored hood with ventilation holes. There's also a transparent flap on the top of the hood that's easy to open. Although the hood has handles, we recommend not using them to prevent the hood from accidentally coming loose.

Tip for breeders: Optimal use of the Trixie Box for young rodents

As a breeder of small rodents, we have a valuable tip for you. The larger sizes of the Trixie Box are particularly suitable as a temporary home for young animals that have just been separated from their parents but are not yet old enough to move to their new owners. The transparent plexiglass construction of the box offers excellent visibility and allows you to constantly monitor the young animals.

After separating the animals by gender, you can easily place them in two different tanks. This creates an organized and safe environment where the young animals can grow and thrive before they go to their new owners.

Is the Trixie Box suitable for Guinea Pigs & Rabbits?

Unfortunately, the Trixie Box is not suitable for guinea pigs, rabbits, or chinchillas. These animals are better transported in a large, closed transport box. The box is specifically designed for small rodents that like to hide in the bedding placed inside. Larger rodents have more difficulty hiding, which may cause them to experience more stress in the box. Furthermore, the box is too small for a quarantine enclosure for guinea pigs, rabbits, or chinchillas.

If you're looking for a guinea pig carrier , rabbit carrier , or chinchilla carrier , we recommend choosing a closed carrier that offers sufficient protection and comfort during travel. Make sure the carrier is spacious enough for the animals to move around and lie down comfortably.
