Degu care & health – hygiene, nails, coat and practical support
A fresh living environment and good basic care make a big difference for degus. Think of a clean enclosure (less urine odor), clean food and water areas, and a consistent grooming routine. Degus don't need to be bathed ; they groom themselves using a sand bath. See Degu sand & sandboxes for more information. In this category, you'll find products for cleaning, nail care, and practical support. If you have any doubts or persistent complaints, consulting a veterinarian is always the right step. DRD Rodent Shop® has been specializing in rodents and rabbits since 2011 and consciously selects products based on safety, ease of use, and quality.

Why hygiene is important for degus
Degus live close to their bedding and in their own "air layer." If urine stains remain, they can quickly cause a strong odor and further irritation in the enclosure. A consistent cleaning routine is therefore truly helpful. Complete the routine with a suitable digging layer using Degus bedding and provide plenty of distraction (reducing stress) through play and foraging .
What do you pay attention to when choosing care products?
Choose practical products suitable for rodent habitats: targeted, easy to dose, and without unnecessarily strong odors. Always use products according to the instructions, allow wet surfaces to dry thoroughly, and ventilate the habitat. In case of parasites or persistent symptoms, consult a veterinarian.
