The Trixie Coconut House with Ladder 13 cm is a natural coconut house for small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils. The house features a round coconut as a cozy hiding place and a ladder that provides an extra challenge, especially for climbing animals.
For mice, this house is fun to hang up, as mice are true climbers and enjoy making use of height, routes, and hanging spots. For dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, it is preferable to place the coconut house low down or on the bedding. These animals live more on and in the substrate and are less suitable for hanging sleeping places high up in the enclosure.
✔ Made from natural coconut
✔ Cozy hiding place for small rodents
✔ Ladder provides an extra challenge for climbing animals such as mice
✔ Can also be used at a low level for dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils
✔ Combines beautifully with hamsterscaping , gerbilscaping , and natural decor
A coconut house immediately gives an enclosure a natural look. The round shape makes it a sheltered spot where small rodents can retreat. This is pleasant, as many small animals like to have multiple hiding places and want to choose for themselves where to sleep, rest, or sit out of sight for a while.
The coconut is compact and therefore particularly suitable for small animals. For mice, the little house can become part of a climbing route. For dwarf hamsters and hamsters, it can serve as a low hiding place in the bedding. For gerbils, the coconut can be a nice natural hiding place, as long as you carefully check that the ladder and suspension remain in good condition.
The ladder makes the product extra playful, but not every animal uses it in the same way. Therefore, placement is more important than the product itself: hanging for good climbers, low for animals that primarily live on the ground.
Do not hang the house high for dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils. These animals live primarily on the ground or in burrow systems and prefer low, sheltered spots. For them, the house is most comfortable when it is within reach on or just inside the bedding.
For larger animals such as rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, this house is too small as a suitable hiding or sleeping place. For these animals, it is better to choose a more spacious house that suits their size and way of moving.
The house contains a tuft of coconut fiber. Trim these fibers to a maximum of approximately 5 cm before use. This prevents long fibers from wrapping around the legs or getting caught. Also, check the fibers regularly later on and remove any loose, long, or tangled pieces.
Do you want to offer extra nesting material? Then it is better to choose suitable nesting material that is short, soft, and suitable for small rodents.
Coconut is a natural material. If it remains wet for an extended period, it may become less fresh. Therefore, place the house in a dry spot and not directly under a water bottle or on a designated potty spot.
Yes, this little house is very suitable for mice. Mice are good climbers and can use the house, when hanging, as a hiding place, waypoint, and climbing element.
Yes, dwarf hamsters can use the house as a low hiding place. Place the house on or just inside the bedding and do not hang it high.
That depends on the size of your hamster. The opening is approximately ø 6 cm. Always check if your hamster fits through the opening with plenty of room. If in doubt, a larger hamster house is wiser.
Yes, gerbils can use the house as a natural hiding place or landscaping element. Place it low and check regularly for gnawing marks and wear.
Hanging is fun for mice because they like to climb. For dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, placing them low is better, because these animals live primarily on and in the substrate.
Cut the coconut fiber short to a maximum of approximately 5 cm. Remove long, loose, or tangled fibers so that legs cannot get caught in them.
Preferably wipe the birdhouse dry or slightly damp. Rinse it only when necessary and let it dry completely before putting it back.
No, for guinea pigs, rats, and other larger animals, this house is too small as a suitable shelter or sleeping place. It is better to choose a larger house for these animals.
Combine the Trixie Coconut House with Ladder 13 cm with bedding, tunnels, nesting material, and natural decorations. This way, you provide small rodents with a sheltered spot that suits their movement patterns: hanging for climbers and low for animals that prefer to stay on the floor.
