Product description

Trixie Coconut Houses with Bridge for small rodents

The Trixie Coconut Houses with Bridge are two natural coconut houses connected by a small bridge. This makes the product fun as a hiding place, climbing route, and natural play element for small rodents. Mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, in particular, can make use of it in their own way.

For mice, this is a challenging hanging house, as they enjoy climbing and using various routes. For dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, placing it low is usually the best choice. This creates a cozy hiding spot or a landscaping element without your animal having to climb unnecessarily high. Thanks to the coconut shell and its natural appearance, this house fits beautifully into a hamsterscaping, gerbilscaping, or naturally decorated mouse enclosure.

Why choose coconut houses?

Coconut houses immediately give the enclosure a natural look. The round, sheltered shape makes the product interesting for small rodents that like to crawl inside, retreat for a moment, or follow a route through the enclosure. Because this product consists of two houses with a bridge, there is more variety than with a single house.

For small rodents, variety in the enclosure is important. An enclosure becomes more interesting when there are different routes, hiding places, and materials present. This coconut house can help with that. It is not a large main house, but rather an extra place to explore, rest, sniff, or to make part of a natural setup.

The product fits well with a decor featuring bedding, wooden accessories, tunnels, cork, moss, and natural decoration. As a result, it also combines beautifully with hamsterscaping , natural decor , and tunnels .

For which animals are the Trixie Coconut Houses with Bridge suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a hanging play and hiding place. Mice are good climbers and enjoy using height, small bridges, and various routes through the enclosure.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a low-placed hiding place, sniffing spot, or part of a hamsterscaping. Preferably place the house on or partially in the bedding.
  • Hamster: suitable as an extra hiding place or natural furnishing element. For larger hamsters, the coconut is usually too compact as a permanent main home, but it is fun as an extra place to explore.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a play element, hiding place, or part of a gerbilscaping. Gerbils can gnaw heavily, so check the product regularly for wear.

For pygmy rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and chinchillas, this product is usually less suitable as a home because the coconuts are compact. For these animals, you would prefer to choose larger homes, tunnels, hammocks, or hiding places that better suit their body size and movement patterns.

Usage & placement

The coconut houses can be hung using the included metal mounting. This is especially suitable for animals that like to climb and are good climbers, such as mice. Always check that the house hangs securely and cannot hit other parts.

For dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, we recommend using the houses at a low level. You can place them on top of the bedding, partially embed them in the bedding, or position them against a natural wall. This ensures the product remains easily accessible and becomes a logical part of the enclosure.

Preferably do not use the product as a high climbing structure for animals that naturally live primarily on and under the ground. For these animals, it is much more pleasant if they can reach the little house without a steep climb or jump.

Material & nesting fiber

The houses are made of coconut and come with coconut fiber. Coconut fiber gives the product a natural look and may be found interesting by small rodents as nesting material.

Be sure to check the coconut fiber before use. If there are long strands mixed in, it is best to cut them shorter to about 5 cm. This keeps the nesting material more practical for little paws. If you want to offer extra nesting material, combine the house with suitable nesting material for small rodents .

Cleaning

Coconut is a natural material. You can wipe the house with a dry or slightly damp cloth. When rinsing it with lukewarm water, allow the product to dry completely before placing it back in the enclosure. If natural materials remain damp for too long, they may lose their appearance or develop a musty smell.

While cleaning, immediately check whether the bridge, the coconut, and the suspension are still sturdy. Regular checks are especially important for animals that like to gnaw.

Good to know

Always place or hang the Coconut Houses with Bridge in a way that suits the animal. For mice, the product may be part of a climbing route. For dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, placing it low and stable is usually the best choice. Regularly check the product for gnaw marks, sharp edges, loose fibers, or damaged parts, and replace it if it has been gnawed too far.

Vandaag binnen gekregen.
