Why choose Vitakraft VitaGarden Mealworms?

Mealworms are a popular animal-protein snack for small rodents that can benefit from animal proteins or insects alongside plant-based food. This includes mice, dwarf hamsters, Syrian Hamsters (Golden Hamsters), gerbils and rats. For these animals, a small insect snack can be a nice way to offer extra variety next to the daily staple food.

These dried mealworms are also suitable for wild birds. You can offer them on a bird feeding table, in a small dish or at a sheltered feeding spot. Because the mealworms are dried, they are easy to dose and store neatly.

What makes these mealworms practical is that you do not need live food. You can give exactly a small amount per snack or feeding moment. The stand-up pouch is resealable, so you can store the mealworms dry and neatly.

Which animals is this product suitable for?

  • Mouse: suitable as a small protein-rich snack or reward. Hide a few mealworms in a foraging spot so mice can actively search for them.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a complementary animal-protein snack. Give small portions, for example as a hand reward or scattered through the bedding.
  • Hamster: suitable for Syrian Hamsters (Golden Hamsters) as a tasty snack alongside daily hamster food. Also useful for foraging or taming.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a protein-rich snack for gerbils. Especially for species that naturally eat more insects, such as fat-tailed gerbils, mealworms can be an interesting addition.
  • Rat: suitable as a small reward, training snack or foraging bite. Rats are clever searchers, so mealworms work well in a snack ball, snuffle mat or food puzzle.
  • Wild birds: suitable as complementary feed at a sheltered feeding spot, feeding table or in a suitable dish. Offer small amounts and keep the feeding area clean and dry.

How do you use these mealworms?

Give Vitakraft VitaGarden Mealworms as a complementary snack alongside the daily staple food. A few mealworms per snack moment is enough for most small rodents. Because mealworms are protein- and fat-rich snacks, small portions are the best choice.

For wild birds, you can offer the mealworms at a sheltered feeding spot. Preferably use a clean dish, feeding table or suitable bird feeder and remove leftovers when they become wet or dirty.

You can offer the mealworms in different ways:

  • from the hand as a reward for tame rodents;
  • mixed through the daily rodent food;
  • hidden between the bedding as a searching game;
  • in a snack board, snuffle mat or foraging toy;
  • at a sheltered feeding spot for wild birds.

Always provide fresh drinking water for rodents. Store the mealworms cool, dry and well sealed. When feeding in the enclosure or at an outdoor feeding spot, check that any leftovers stay dry and clean.

Composition and analysis

Composition: dried mealworms.

Analysis: protein 52%, fat content 26.8%, crude fibre 4.8%, moisture 5%.

5 sterren :).
