Knaagdierwinkel® Insect Mix is a rich mix containing dried mealworms, sun-dried amphipods, black soldier fly larvae, and airy extruded rice. This mix is intended as a supplementary snack and enrichment for animals whose diets include insects and animal proteins, such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, pygmy rats, rats, and wild birds.
Insects are an interesting addition to the daily food for many omnivorous rodents. Not only because of the taste, but also because they stimulate natural foraging behavior. You can offer the mix in a food bowl, scatter it in a foraging area, or hide it in a snuffle mat, treat board, or other suitable food puzzle. This way, snacking immediately becomes an active moment where your animal gets to smell, search, and discover.
✔ Rich mix with multiple animal protein sources
✔ With mealworms, gammarus, and black soldier fly larvae
✔ Interesting for animals that like to actively search for food
✔ Suitable as a variation alongside the daily main food
✔ Also suitable for wild birds
✔ Large 155 gram jar for many small snacking and foraging moments
This insect mix is particularly suitable for animals that can naturally consume animal proteins or insect-like food. Use the mix as a supplementary snack alongside an appropriate basic diet, and adjust the quantity according to the animal species, the size of the animal, and how actively you offer it.
For true herbivores such as guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, we choose herbs, flowers, leaves, hay enrichment, dried vegetables, or suitable high-fiber snacks.
For small rodents, this insect mix is best used as a targeted snack or foraging enrichment. Provide a small amount in a food bowl, scatter some in a sniffing area, or hide a few pieces in a snack board or food puzzle. This makes snack time more active and aligns better with natural foraging behavior.
For hamsters, it is advisable to use small portions, as hamsters tend to hoard food. Therefore, check the storage areas occasionally to ensure leftovers remain tidy. For rats, however, the mix is ideal for use in food puzzles, snuffle mats, or as a small reward during social interaction.
For outdoor birds, the mix can be offered more generously at a suitable feeding spot. Ensure the feeding area is clean and dry, and replace any food that has become wet or soiled.
Composition: dried mealworms, sun-dried amphipods (Gammarus), dried larvae of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), extruded rice: rice, lecithin.
Analytical constituents: crude protein 45.83%, crude fat 24.59%, crude ash 6.92%, crude fiber 1.94%, moisture 1.82%.
The composition consists of various insects and amphipods, supplemented with airy extruded rice. The mix contains no bird products and is intended as a complementary feed. Due to the high protein and fat values, this mix is used primarily as a conscious supplement and not as a main feed.
Store the insect mix at room temperature, in a dry, dark, and tightly sealed place. This will help the mix retain its smell, texture, and quality for longer. Additionally, always ensure there is plenty of drinking water available, especially when offering dried snacks or protein-rich supplements.
This product is not intended for human consumption. Use it as a supplementary snack alongside the normal food suitable for your animal.
