Product description

Trixie Mega Hay Roll Rack for rodents and rabbits!

The Trixie Mega Hay Roll Rack is a special hay rack! The hay rack is round and has a lid at the top. The hay can therefore easily be replenished from the top. The hay roll is made of flamed wood. Very nice for rabbits and guinea pigs who can eat together from the rack. Due to the round shape, the hay roll can also be used lying down, so that the hay rack also rolls a bit, which gives the animals an extra challenge!

Flamed wood
To fill with hay, grass, etc.
Lid prevents the animal from climbing in
Prevents contamination of the feed by faeces and urine
Can be used standing or lying down as a playful activity
To create the most natural living environment possible

This hay rack is suitable to use for enrichment. It is an extra challenge because the animals have to make a little more effort to get the hay out of the rack. In addition to this hay rack for enrichment, a basic hay rack must always be present so that the animals always have hay available.

Did you know that this hay rack meets the strict requirements of animal welfare legislation?

This hay rack was designed together with the German Animal Protection Agency according to the strictest animal welfare regulations? It really is! This hay rack has been designed in accordance with Article 18 (AT) of the German Animal Welfare Legislation.

What is a good bar spacing for a hay rack?

A good quality hay rack should be designed so that rodents can put their muzzles between the bars, but not their whole head. The suitable bar spacing depends on the animal species and the size of the animal. In general, the following distances are recommended:

Guinea pigs: about 3 cm
Degus: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Chinchillas: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Dwarf rabbits: about 3 to 3.5 cm
Medium rabbits: up to about 4 cm
Large rabbits: up to about 4.5 cm

It is very important that the animals cannot put their heads through the bars, otherwise they could become trapped. This is different if the bars are very far apart and the animals can easily move their heads back and forth. If you notice that your rodent's head just fits through the bars and could possibly become trapped, it is advisable to remove the hay rack from the enclosure and choose one with a smaller bar spacing.
