The Trixie Cork Plate is a natural cork bark plate that fits beautifully in a hamster enclosure, gerbil enclosure, or other natural setup for small rodents. You can use the cork plate as a decorative landscaping element, a low climbing route, a divider between zones, or as an extra sheltered spot for small animals to walk under or past.
Because cork is a natural product, every sheet is different. One cork sheet may be somewhat flatter, while another has more curvature. This is because cork comes from the bark of the cork oak. The shape depends on the location on the tree and the natural curvature of the trunk or branch. It is precisely because of this that every interior acquires a unique, natural look.
✔ 100% natural material: made from cork bark of the cork oak.
✔ Ideal for scaping: instantly gives the enclosure a natural look.
✔ Versatile use: as a climbing route, barrier, shelter, or decoration.
✔ Rough surface for grip: small rodents can easily walk or climb over it.
✔ Unique per piece: shape, curvature, and structure vary per cork sheet.
A cork sheet is one of the handiest natural materials for adding more structure to an enclosure. You can use it to create height differences, separate a sand zone, make a hiding place, or build a natural route between different parts of the enclosure.
This is especially valuable for hamsters, dwarf hamsters, mice, and gerbils. These animals use their enclosure not only to eat and sleep, but also to explore, hide, dig, climb, and search. A cork board helps to make the enclosure less open and predictable.
The rough surface provides grip. As a result, small animals can walk over it more easily than over a smooth surface. The texture can also aid in the natural wear of nails when animals move over it regularly.
Which size fits best depends on the function. If you want a small hiding place or a decorative accent, size M is often sufficient. If you want a clear separation, a larger route, or a striking natural element in the enclosure, size L is usually more aesthetically pleasing.
In a hamsterscape or gerbilscape, you can use the cork board in various ways. For example, lay it halfway over the bedding as a sheltered route, use it as a natural wall between the sand and bedding, or place it at an angle against a platform to create a low climbing route.
Stability is especially important for gerbils. Gerbils dig frequently and can undermine objects. Therefore, secure the cork board firmly or work it well into the bedding so that it cannot suddenly fall over.
A cork sheet works beautifully as a natural divider between different zones in the enclosure. Think of a sand area, a digging zone, a moss corner, or a spot with other landscaping material. Due to the natural texture, the transition looks less rigid and artificial.
Make sure the plate stands stably and that no gaps form where legs could get stuck. If necessary, fill narrow openings with moss, substrate, or other suitable natural material.
When the cork sheet has a natural curvature, it can also be used as a low hiding place. Small rodents can walk underneath it or sit sheltered beneath it. If the sheet is flatter, you can use it as a roof, a passageway, or a natural wall.
Because the shape varies from piece to piece, it is helpful to fit the panel into the enclosure first before building the rest of the setup around it. That way, you will naturally see where the panel looks best and sits most securely.
Cork boards are made from the bark of the cork oak. The curvature depends on where the bark was harvested from the tree. Bark from a narrower part of the tree often has more curvature, while bark from a wider part can be flatter.
Therefore, a cork sheet can be more curved, semi-round, or quite flat. This is characteristic of this natural product. The product photo provides an impression, but the sheet received may differ in shape, color, thickness, and structure.
It is best to clean cork as dry as possible. Remove loose bedding, sand, and dirt with a small brush or a dry cloth. If a small spot has become dirty, use a slightly damp cloth if necessary, and allow the cork sheet to dry completely before putting it back in place.
If the cork board becomes wet, heavily soiled, or crumbly, remove it from the enclosure. Also, check regularly for sharp edges, loose pieces, or gnawing damage.
Composition: natural cork bark.

The Trixie Cork Plate is a natural product and may vary in shape, curvature, and size. Always place the plate stably and check regularly for wear, loose pieces, sharp edges, and gnawing damage. Do not use the cork plate in a way that allows your animal to fall from a great height or where paws can get trapped between cracks or openings.
Yes, the cork sheet is very suitable for hamsterscaping. You can use it as a natural route, hiding place, partition, or decorative capping element.
Yes, the cork board fits well into gerbilscaping. Make sure to place it securely, as gerbils dig a lot and can undermine objects.
Size M is handy for smaller enclosures and separate hiding or route areas. Size L is suitable when you want to create more volume, height, or a larger partition.

Yes, some animals will gnaw on it or damage the edges. Therefore, check the plate regularly and remove it when sharp or loose parts appear.
Yes, that works very well. Just make sure the plate is stable and that any gaps are filled in so that the legs cannot get stuck.
Preferably clean the cork dry with a small brush or cloth. Use a slightly damp cloth only locally and allow the sheet to dry completely before replacing it.
It is better to use cork low and stable. Hamsters and dwarf hamsters, in particular, are not true high-altitude animals, so avoid high places to fall.
