Product description

DRD Rodent Shop ® Carrot slices for rodents and rabbits

DRD Knaagdierwinkel ® Carrot Slices are crunchy vegetable snacks for rodents and rabbits. The recognizable taste of carrot makes these slices very suitable as a small reward, snack, or extra foraging treat. You can give them separately, mix them into a herb mix, or hide them in the enclosure.

Carrots are an attractive vegetable for many animals, but in snack form, they remain primarily a treat. Therefore, give the carrot slices consciously and in small quantities alongside the normal main food. This way, you easily add some variety without changing the basis of the diet.

Nutrition in brief

  • Crispy carrot slices as an additional vegetable snack
  • Suitable as a reward, snack, or foraging extra.
  • For various rodents and rabbits
  • Handy to mix with herbs, hay, or snack mixes
  • Give in moderation, especially to sugar-sensitive animals

Pros of DRD Carrot Slices

Tasty vegetable snack: carrot has a recognizable taste that many rodents and rabbits get excited about.
Crispy texture: fun to nibble on and nice as a change alongside softer snacks.
Handy as a reward: give a small piece by hand during interaction or as a treat.
Great for foraging: hide the discs among hay, herbs, or on a snack plate.
For many animal species: suitable as a supplementary snack for mice, hamsters, gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, and rabbits, among others.

Why choose Carrot Slices?

Carrot slices are handy when you are looking for a simple vegetable snack that is easy to store and portion. You don't have to cut anything and can quickly give a small piece as a reward or for enrichment. This makes this snack practical for daily use, as long as you offer it in moderation.

The discs are also fun to use for foraging. By hiding a few pieces, you let your animal search and sniff. This way, a small snack immediately becomes an activity. Animals that enjoy being busy with their food, such as rats, mice, hamsters, and rabbits, can especially appreciate this.

For which animals are Carrot Slices suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a small snack or foraging reward. Give in moderation.
  • Dwarf hamster: give in very limited quantities. Preferably avoid for sugar-sensitive animals or only give a small piece very occasionally.
  • Hamster: suitable as a small treat in moderation. A small piece is often sufficient.
  • Gerbil: suitable as an occasional snack and fun to hide in a foraging area.
  • Dwarf rat and rat: suitable as a reward or vegetable snack. Rats often appreciate crunchy treats.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a small snack in moderation. Hay, guinea pig food, and suitable fresh vegetables remain the basis.
  • Rabbit: suitable as a small reward in moderation. Hay always remains the most important basis of the diet.
  • Chinchillas and degus: preferably do not give or give in very limited quantities. For these animals, preferably choose fiber-rich snacks that are better suited to their sensitive diet.

How do you feed carrot slices?

Give carrot slices as a supplementary snack alongside the normal main food. For small animals, you can break a slice into smaller pieces if necessary. Start with a small amount if your animal is not yet used to this snack.

You can feed the discs by hand, mix them with herbs , or hide them in aforaging toy . This also works well mixed in hay , especially for guinea pigs and rabbits.

Compound

Composition: root.

Carrots naturally contain flavor, aroma, and plant-based nutrients. In snack form, you give them primarily as a tasty change of pace. They are not a staple food, nor are they a substitute for hay, herbs, fresh vegetables, or an appropriate basic diet.

Good to know

Give carrot slices in moderation. Carrots naturally contain sugars, making this snack less suitable for animals sensitive to sugar or prone to diabetes. Store the slices in a cool, dry, and tightly sealed place to maintain their neat texture.

Wortelschijfjes in een handige bewaarpot van plastic, zo blijft het eten langer vers! Helaas vond mijn hamster de wortelschijfjes niet lekker en at ze niet op, maarja... smaken verschillen hè ;)
