A shelter is essential in the degu's habitat. In nature, they create many self-dug holes. Degus need their own sleeping house where they can retreat. In addition to a place to sleep, a house also provides an extra sense of security for the Degu. We understand this need! That is why you have come to the right place for houses and night shelters for your Degu at DRD Rodent Shop ® and you have a wide choice of different types, sizes, colours and brands of houses for a competitive price!
Degus are real rodents. The most ideal is therefore a gnawing-proof house. An example of a gnawing-proof house is an aluminium house. The degus will not be able to gnaw these to pieces and therefore a gnawing-proof house will last by far the longest. Wooden houses are also very popular. However, wood has the major disadvantage that the degus can gnaw it to pieces. That is why it is important to always offer sufficient alternative gnawing material/gnawing wood. Some caution is also required with houses with nails or staples. These items must be checked daily. When the degu has gnawed so much that a nail or staple is almost exposed, the house must be replaced. We also have nail-free wooden houses. These are gnawing-proof, but will still last less long than a gnawing-proof plateau. In addition, there are also gnawing houses. These are intended for nibbling! Of course, the gnawing houses last the least.
