Product description

Versele-Laga Nature Snack Veggies Vegetable Mix 85 g

Versele-Laga Nature Snack Veggies is a vegetable-rich snack mix for small rodents, guinea pigs, and rabbits. The mix contains, among other things, parsnip, carrot, leek, beetroot, tomato, bell pepper, timothy hay, seeds, FOS, MOS, algae, and yucca. This makes it a fragrant, varied snack that you can use as a small treat, reward, or foraging moment.

At DRD, when it comes to vegetable snacks, we focus primarily on animal species, portion size, and application. Nature Snack Veggies is a tasty mix, but it is a supplementary snack. Therefore, you give it consciously alongside the daily basic diet, for example, to offer some extra variety or to let your animal search, sniff, and forage.

Vegetable-rich snack mix for variety

Nature Snack Veggies is a vegetable-rich mix with various textures. This makes the snack interesting for animals that enjoy sniffing, searching, and picking up small pieces. You can feed the mix by hand, but it really comes into its own when you hide or scatter it.

For small rodents, just a little bit can be enough for a fun snack time. For guinea pigs and rabbits, this mix is especially suitable as a small variation alongside hay, appropriate main food, and other daily care. Therefore, use it as an extra treat, not as a replacement for the basics.

Because the mix also contains seeds and other nutritious components, mindful dosing remains important. It is preferable to give small portions and do not combine this snack with many other energy-rich extras on the same day.

For which animals is Nature Snack Veggies suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a small vegetable snack or foraging reward. Give small amounts and hide the pieces, for example, among bedding or sniffing material.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a small snack, but give consciously and sparingly. For daily enrichment, primarily use regular food and alternate with species-specific snacks.
  • Hamster: suitable as an occasional treat for hamsters who like to search and hoard. Hide small pieces in the hamster enclosure or give a little by hand.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a small change of pace. Gerbils enjoy searching and collecting, making this snack a great opportunity for foraging.
  • Dwarf Grate: suitable as a small reward, tailored to the size, activity, and group composition of your animals.
  • Rat: suitable as a vegetable-rich snack or reward. Rats enjoy searching for this mix in a snuffle mat, treat ball, egg carton, or foraging container.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a small vegetable variation alongside hay, appropriate guinea pig food, and suitable fresh vegetables. Give consciously as a snack and not as the main daily treat.
  • Rabbit: suitable as a small snack or foraging moment alongside hay, appropriate rabbit food, and suitable fresh vegetables. Offer small portions and observe carefully what your rabbit enjoys eating.

For chinchillas and degus, we prefer species-specific snacks that better suit their nutritional needs, such as hay, herbs, leaves, and appropriate chinchilla or degu treats. This vegetable mix makes particular sense for small omnivorous rodents, guinea pigs, and rabbits.

How do you use this vegetable mix?

Give Nature Snack Veggies in limited quantities as a supplement and variation to the daily diet. A small amount at a time is enough. Especially with small animals, a snack quickly adds up, so it is better to use the mix consciously rather than generously.

You can offer the snack in different ways:

  • a few pieces by hand as a reward;
  • hidden in bedding or a sniffing spot;
  • in a small foraging tray, snack roll, or food ball;
  • between hay to make the hay corner more interesting;
  • as a small surprise in a natural setting;
  • during taming, training, or contact moments.

Preferably use small portions and observe closely how your animal handles them. Is there a lot of hoarding, or are leftovers left behind? Then check the storage areas occasionally so that old pieces do not remain in the enclosure for too long.

Foraging with Nature Snack Veggies

This snack mix is ideal for stimulating foraging behavior. The scent of vegetables, seeds, and small plant parts encourages many animals to actively search. For example, scatter a small amount in a dry sniffing area or hide a few pieces among paper, bedding, hay, or a foraging toy.

For hamsters and gerbils, this fits nicely into a natural-looking setup. For mice, you can scatter small amounts in a climbing area or sniffing box. For rats and pygmy rats, you can use the mix in a food ball, puzzle, egg carton, or sniffing mat.

For guinea pigs and rabbits, you can hide a few pieces in the hay or offer them in a snuffle mat. This way, you immediately turn a small snack moment into a quiet foraging activity.

Do you want to offer foraging more often? Then usually use a portion of the normal daily ration of feed or hay and save Veggies for a small extra moment. This way, you offer enrichment without snacks counting too much.

Composition and analysis

Composition: crushed carob, potato granules, parsnip (9%), red beet flakes, dried carrots (8.5%), pea flakes, broad bean flakes, timothy hay, tomato flakes, leek (4%), red bell pepper flakes, peas, soybean hulls, sunflower seed meal, potato flour, soybean meal, crushed peas, linseed, toasted soybeans, alfalfa, dried beet pulp, monocalcium phosphate, calcium magnesium carbonate, sodium chloride, crude soybean oil, Mojave yucca (72 mg/kg), fructo-oligosaccharides, mannan-oligosaccharides, dried algae, stevia, propylene glycol, sugar.

Analysis: crude protein 13%, crude fiber 8%, crude fat 2%, crude ash 5.5%, calcium 0.4%, phosphorus 0.3%, sodium 0.1%, vitamin A 3220 IU, vitamin D3 390 IU, vitamin E 26 IU, vitamin C 133 mg, iron 32 mg, copper 3 mg, zinc 23 mg, manganese 24 mg, iodine 0.7 mg, selenium 0.1 mg.

This composition is suitable for a vegetable-rich snack mix with seeds, timothy hay, and plant-based ingredients. Due to the presence of seeds, oil, stevia, and sugar, among other things, you consciously offer this snack as a treat rather than in unlimited quantities. This ensures that the daily basic diet remains well-balanced.

Save

Store the packaging in a cool, dry, and tightly sealed place. This will help preserve the aroma, taste, and texture as much as possible. Close the bag tightly after use, especially since vegetable snacks can have an attractive smell.

Preferably use a sealable storage container when the packaging has been open for a longer period. Do not place snacks in a damp or warm place.

Good to know

Nature Snack Veggies is a vegetable-rich snack mix. This makes the snack appealing and varied, but also something to give consciously. A small amount is enough for a fun snack moment.

For guinea pigs and rabbits, hay remains the most important staple. Therefore, use this snack primarily as a small variation, for example mixed in with the hay or in a snuffle mat.

Does your pet have a feeding routine where sugar, seeds, or energy-rich extras are preferably kept to a minimum? Then it is better to choose a different snack, such as suitable herbs, leaves, or a species-specific vegetable snack.

Do not give vegetable snacks as a standard practice on top of many other extras. If you want to give your animal something to do daily, primarily use regular food or hay as foraging material, and save Veggies for occasional use.
