MATERIAL OF THE RUNNING WHEEL
What is the best material? Wood, Metal, Plastic? An important thing for a chinchilla exercise wheel is that it is gnaw-proof. Aluminum is gnaw-proof, easy to clean and lasts a long time.
DO NOT WASH WALKING WHEELS IN WATER
For all running wheels it is not good to rinse them completely under the tap. It is very important that the turning mechanism (ball bearing) does not get wet. The more often the turning mechanism is rinsed the stiffer it becomes and can therefore start to squeak and run stiffer.
TREADMILL BEEPS
A running wheel can become more even over time. For a squeaky running wheel, we recommend a drop of olive oil. This can be applied to the turning mechanism.
