The Arcade Sand Bath gives mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters and gerbils their own sandy area in the enclosure. Add a shallow layer of suitable chinchilla sand and your pet can go inside to explore the sand or enjoy a sand bath. The two entrances make it easy to walk in and out.

The transparent front makes this sand bath enjoyable for you too. Position this side against the glass of the enclosure so you can watch your pet up close. The wooden roof also provides a useful place for a suitably sized exercise wheel, food bowl or water bowl.

A sand area that fits into your enclosure

The wooden walls and roof create a sheltered sand area inside the enclosure. The closed base keeps the sand separate from the bedding underneath. This is useful when you want to create a dedicated sand corner in a hamsterscape or gerbil enclosure.

Arrange the surrounding furnishings so they connect with the entrances. Keep both openings clear, allowing your pet to choose which side to enter or leave through. Also check that your pet can move comfortably through the entrances. The openings measure approximately 5 cm in diameter.

Watch through the transparent front

The front has a transparent acrylic panel. Position it against the front glass of your terrarium or enclosure. You can then watch your pet walking through the sand, digging or rolling around while sand bathing.

Keep bedding and decorations away from the viewing area if you want a clear view inside. You can check what your pet is doing without opening the roof. The transparent front also makes it easy to see where the sand is and whether a particular spot needs cleaning.

A useful place for an exercise wheel or bowl

The flat roof provides an extra surface for accessories. A food bowl or water bowl can stand on the wood rather than directly on loose bedding. You can also place an exercise wheel on top, provided its entire stand fits on the roof and the wheel can turn freely.

Place the sand bath on a firm, level surface. Arrange the surrounding furnishings so your pet can easily reach the roof. Once everything is in place, check that the wheel or bowl stands securely and both entrances remain accessible.

The roof opens so you can check the contents and clean the sand bath. Simply move any accessories off the roof first. This keeps the sand area easy to reach during everyday care.

Filling and keeping it clean

A shallow layer of suitable chinchilla sand is enough. Spread it over the base and keep the entrances clear. There is no need to fill the container to the top: your pet needs enough space to enter and move around in the sand.

Check the sand regularly. You can use the Pala Toilet Scoop to remove small urine clumps, droppings and other debris. This helps the clean sand last longer, so you do not have to replace the entire contents whenever you find a dirty patch.

How often it needs cleaning depends on your pet. Watch how the sand area is used and remove dirty patches as soon as you notice them. Top up with clean sand when needed and replace the contents when the sand is no longer fresh.

Also suitable as a small digging box

Would you prefer to use the container as a digging area? You can fill it with suitable bedding instead of sand. The transparent front lets you watch your pet during this activity too. This gives you another way to use the container to suit your pet and the rest of the enclosure.
