• Mouse: suitable as a spacious and well-organized terrarium, provided you ensure plenty of structure, hiding places, climbing opportunities, substrate, and safe routes.
• Dwarf hamster: very suitable as a hamsterscaping enclosure. The size offers space for deep bedding, a sand bath, a running wheel, houses, tunnels, and foraging areas.
• Hamster: suitable for hamsters, but for a Syrian hamster, pay extra attention to body size, layout, and movement space. The floor dimensions are close to the 100 × 50 cm guideline, but just slightly below. Therefore, furnish the enclosure spaciously, logically, and not too crowded.
• Gerbil: suitable as a gerbilarium when using a sturdy digging layer, chew-resistant materials, and sufficient structure. Gerbils are social diggers, so the setup must really be geared towards digging, gnawing, and moving around together.

This enclosure is not the right choice for pygmy rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus. These animals require a different type of enclosure, different height/surface area, or different furnishings.

Construction & ventilation

Usage & placement

Place the terrarium on a sturdy, flat surface. Do not place it in direct sunlight or in a location where it can heat up significantly. A glass enclosure can retain heat, so a quiet spot with a stable room temperature is important.

First, set up the enclosure into main zones: a deep digging zone, a sand area, multiple hiding places, a walking route, a drinking spot, and a foraging zone. Afterward, you can further decorate it with cork, moss, tunnels, bridges, and natural materials.

For gerbils, it is important to pay extra attention to sturdy materials and sufficient digging space. For hamsters, deep bedding, a suitable exercise wheel, a good hiding place, and a calm layout are important. For mice, you should also add more climbing and route elements, as long as everything remains stable and easily accessible.

Cleaning & maintenance

The top flap provides easy access to the enclosure for daily maintenance. Regularly remove soiled areas and keep the sand bath, drinking area, and feeding area well-maintained. With a deep bedding, you do not always need to replace everything at once; you can often clean specific zones.

Gently clean glass and wooden parts with suitable products and prevent wooden parts from remaining unnecessarily wet. Allow cleaned parts to dry thoroughly before replacing the furnishings.
