The Fizi Plush Hammock 38 cm is a soft, padded hammock for animals that like to lie comfortably, rest, or use a sheltered spot. You can easily hang the hammock using the included suspension system. For pygmy rats, rats, and ferrets, the hammock can be nicely used as a soft sleeping and resting place in the enclosure.
This hammock is also suitable for guinea pigs, but it must be hung low. Guinea pigs are not climbers and should not have to jump or fall from high places. Therefore, hang the hammock low enough so that your guinea pig can easily step into it and use the fabric as a soft, slightly raised resting spot. This hammock is only suitable for chinchillas and degus if they do not gnaw through or eat the textile.

A soft hammock provides animals with a comfortable place to rest. For rats, pygmy rats, and ferrets, a hammock is often a favorite sleeping spot, as they like to use different levels in the enclosure. For guinea pigs, the hammock functions more as a low, soft resting place than as an actual climbing hammock.
At DRD, we always closely observe the animal's behavior regarding textile products. Some animals use textiles neatly as resting places, while others gnaw on them, pull out threads, or take pieces of fabric. Therefore, regular checks are important, especially for chinchillas and degus.
Rats often really enjoy using hammocks. They sleep together, seek out sheltered spots, and like having different routes and levels in their enclosure. This plush hammock can be a soft addition to platforms, tunnels, ropes, ladders, and houses.
Hang the hammock so that your rats can easily get in and out. For example, place it between two platforms, in a quiet corner, or as a soft resting place along an existing route. Regularly check that the hooks remain securely in place and that the fabric remains intact.
For guinea pigs, this hammock can be a nice, soft resting place, but only if you hang it low. Guinea pigs are not climbers and use a hammock differently than rats. Therefore, it should not be a high hanging spot, but a low, comfortable resting place where your guinea pig can easily get in and out.
Hang the hammock close to the bottom, preferably so that the fabric gives slightly but does not hang high above the ground. Check if your guinea pig can lie on it comfortably and get off again without jumping. If your guinea pig pulls or gnaws on the fabric, remove the hammock from the enclosure.
Mice can use a hammock as an extra hiding or climbing spot, but they can also gnaw through the fabric or take loose material back to the nest. Therefore, only use the hammock when you can properly control how your mice interact with it.
Do you see loose threads, frayed edges, or gnaw marks? Then remove the hammock from the enclosure and opt for natural materials such as wood, cork, cardboard, or rope instead.
Ferrets enjoy using soft resting places, tunnels, and hanging spots. This hammock can be a nice resting place in a ferret enclosure, provided it is securely attached and checked regularly. Ferrets can be playful and strong, so pay close attention to the suspension points and seams.
Optionally combine the hammock with a tunnel or basket from the same collection to create a cozy, soft resting corner.
Chinchillas and degus are true gnawers. Therefore, this hammock is only suitable if your animals leave textiles completely alone. As soon as you see your animal pulling at the fabric, loosening threads, or making holes, remove the hammock from the enclosure immediately.
For chinchillas and degus, sturdy platforms, wooden hiding places, branches, gnawing material, and species-appropriate furnishings remain the most important foundation. This hammock is therefore merely an extra option for animals that use textiles properly.
Would you like to furnish the enclosure in the same soft style? Then you can combine this hammock with other items from the Fizi collection. This way, you create a calm, matching sleeping and resting zone for animals that safely use textiles.
A soft tunnel to crawl through, rest in, or use as a sheltered route.
View tunnelA cozy igloo for animals that like to lie sheltered and softly on the floor of the enclosure.
View iglooA soft basket for animals that prefer lying on the floor to hanging in a hammock.
View basketSecurely attach the hammock to the bars or to a safe hanging spot in the enclosure. Check that the hooks are properly secured and that the hammock is not hanging too high. Your animal must be able to get in and out easily without falling hard.
For guinea pigs, hang the hammock low. The hammock should feel more like a soft resting spot than an actual raised platform. Make sure your guinea pig can get in and out without jumping.
| Usage | Practical tip |
| Rat cage | Combine with platforms, tunnels, ropes, and ladders for a nice route through the cage. |
| Guinea pig enclosure | Hang low to the ground, so your guinea pig can easily step onto it and lie down peacefully. |
| Ferret enclosure | Hang securely and check regularly that the fabric, seams, and hooks remain intact. |
| Textile inspection | Check daily for loose threads, holes, torn seams, or rodent damage. |
Remove the hammock as soon as your animal chews through the textile, pulls out threads, or tries to eat pieces of fabric. The textile must remain intact for comfortable and safe use. Also, wash the hammock or replace it temporarily if it is dirty, wet, or has a strong smell.
For animals that destroy textiles, more natural and sturdy material is often a better choice. Think of wooden houses, cork tunnels, platforms, cardboard, ropes, or foraging material that is better suited to gnawing behavior.
The Fizi Plush Hammock can be hand-washed. First, remove hair, bedding, and loose dirt. Gently hand-wash the hammock and let it dry completely before hanging it back up.
After washing, check that the seams, hooks, and suspension points are still secure. Do not use the hammock if the fabric has become thin, torn, or frayed.
Textile is not the best choice for every animal. Use this hammock primarily for animals that leave textiles hanging neatly and sleep or lie quietly in or on them. For animals that destroy, pull out, or take fabric to the nest, it is better to choose natural and rodent-resistant materials.
Never hang the hammock so high that your animal can fall from a great height. For guinea pigs, hanging it low is especially important: the hammock must remain a soft resting place and not become a climbing challenge.
You use the hammock as a soft resting place, sleeping place, or extra lying area in an enclosure with safe suspension options.

Only when they leave textiles alone. Chinchillas and degus are real gnawers, so remove the hammock immediately in case of gnawing damage, loose threads, or holes.
No, for hamsters and gerbils we prefer to recommend natural hiding places, deep bedding, wooden or cork tunnels, and other materials that better suit their behavior.
No, a hammock does not make sense for rabbits. It is better to choose low resting places, mats, houses, and plenty of open space.
