• Dwarf hamster: suitable for dwarf hamsters such as Russian dwarf hamsters, Campbell's dwarf hamsters, Roborovski dwarf hamsters, and Chinese dwarf hamsters. The wheel is spacious enough for comfortable running without a curvature that is too tight.

For Syrian hamsters/golden hamsters, we prefer to recommend a larger exercise wheel. A good exercise wheel must be large enough so that the animal does not have to hunch over while running. Thanks to the wooden stand, this running wheel pairs beautifully with natural materials such as cork, wood, moss, bedding, and ceramic hiding places. Always place the wheel so that it can rotate freely and does not rub against anything. Also, keep sufficient space clear around the wheel.

Stable placement is especially important for mice, as they enjoy climbing and moving actively. Therefore, regularly check whether the running wheel is still level and whether the stand remains firmly on the surface.

Cleaning & maintenance

The plastic wheel is easier to clean than a fully wooden running wheel. Wipe the wheel down when it is dirty and immediately check if the wheel still rotates smoothly. Note: the ball bearing is splash-proof, but do not submerge the bearing in water.

You can remove the cork insert and clean it gently with warm water and a soft brush. Allow the cork to dry thoroughly before replacing it. If the cork becomes rough, damaged, or heavily soiled, replacement is the best option.

Regularly check the running wheel for wear, loose parts, gnaw marks, or damage. Replace parts when they are no longer neat or sturdy.

Height adjustment and positioning

The running wheel is height-adjustable from approximately 29 to 39 cm. This is useful when you want to adapt the wheel to the bedding, a platform, or the layout of the enclosure. Always position the wheel so that your animal can easily get in and out.
