Product description

Linseed Flax Harvest for Rodents and Rabbits!

rodent herbs friendly to bees and butterflies The seeds of the flaxseed plant are a big favorite of small rodents, and rightly so, because they are packed with tasty nutrients. The animals harvest the seeds themselves with their paws; this is not only incredibly endearing to watch, but it also keeps them occupied and combats boredom.

100% Natural from the farmer!
Lots of natural snacking fun
Ideal for Hamsterscaping & Gerbilscaping !

Is Flaxseed Harvest suitable for Hamsterscaping?

Absolutely! Linseed Flax Harvest is great to use for hamsterscaping. Hamsterscaping is all about mimicking the animals' natural behavior. Small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, and rats are true seed eaters (granivores); by offering a seed-rich harvest like Linseed Flax, the animals' natural behavior is encouraged. Animals that can exhibit their natural behavior are happy and feel good about themselves, so it is very important for the animal's health.

Do all rodents and rabbits like the linseed flax harvest?

Yes, absolutely! The Linseed Flax Harvest falls under the category of seed harvests , which is different from leaf harvests or herb harvests . The seed harvest is best suited as food for granivorous (seed-eating) rodents, such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, and rats.

Does a Linseed Flax Harvest pose a challenge to rodents?

Yes, absolutely! Linseed Flax Harvest provides a great challenge because the animals have to harvest the seeds from the plant themselves. After all, the seeds are not offered loose but must actually be removed from the plant, and this provides extra enrichment, which we also call feed enrichment.

How should I offer the Linseed Flax Harvest?

There are many ways to offer the Linseed Flax Harvest, depending somewhat on the objective. You can simply place the Linseed Flax Harvest on the bedding, but if you want your animal to have to work for it, you can place the Linseed Flax upright in the bedding; this works perfectly well with a layer of at least 20 cm.

It is also possible to attach this to the bars of the enclosure with a snack clip .
It is also possible to attach the Linseed Flax to glass using a suction cup clamp .

How do rodents eat the linseed flax harvest?

All rodents eat the linseed flax in their own way; some hold it with their little hands, while others nibble it right off. Many small rodents will take the seeds back to their nest and store them there for later.

How is the linseed flax harvest stored at our facility?

In our warehouse, the harvest is stored cool, dry, and UV-free. The latter is important to prevent the breakdown of nutrients by UV light. We therefore recommend always storing the harvest in a dark, cool, and dry place.

Flaxseed Harvest – Pure Nature for Seed-Eating Birds!

A delightful and healthy activity for your birds!
The Linseed Harvest is a natural product consisting of flax stalks with sun-ripened linseeds, straight from the field to your bird enclosure. This harvest is not only a tasty treat but also an enriching activity that stimulates birds' foraging behavior. Perfect for parakeets, parrots, finches, and other seed-eating bird species.

100% Natural and Untreated: The Linseed Flax Harvest is completely free from artificial additives and pesticides. This is a pure natural product that has been carefully harvested and dried so that all valuable nutrients are preserved.
Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Flaxseed is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which contribute to healthy skin, shiny plumage, and a strong immune system. A valuable addition to daily bird food, especially during the molting or breeding season.
Stimulates Natural Behavior: The Flaxseed Harvest gives birds the opportunity to gather their own food. By pecking and fiddling with the ears, they are mentally stimulated and are less likely to get bored. This aligns perfectly with their natural behavior in the wild.
Ideal for Food Enrichment and Variety: This seed harvest provides variety in your birds' diet and encourages active foraging. It can also contribute to a calm and contented atmosphere in the enclosure, as birds are occupied with a natural activity for an extended period.

How do you offer the Flaxseed Harvest to birds?

There are several ways to offer the Flaxseed Harvest:

  • Hanging from the bars: Use a snack clip or suction cup to attach the bundle at eye level so your bird can easily reach it.
  • Laying down freely: Place the bundle loosely on a feeding platform or in an enrichment corner of the aviary.
  • Incorporating into a natural feeding setup: Combine the Flaxseed Harvest with other natural materials such as willow branches or grasses for a playful effect.

Always ensure that the bundle hangs dry and store any unused harvest in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. This way, the seeds will remain fresh and nutritious for a long time.

For which birds is the Flaxseed Harvest suitable?

The Flaxseed Harvest is particularly suitable for seed-eating birds such as:

  • Parakeets (e.g. budgerigars, cockatiels, Bourke's parakeets)
  • Parrots (e.g. lovebirds, caiques, amazons)
  • Tropical birds such as zebra finches, canaries, finches
  • Aviary birds that love challenge and variety

How is the flaxseed harvest stored at our facility?

The linseed flax harvest arrives directly from the farmer or manufacturer . We store it carefully in a cool, dry, and UV-free room to ensure quality and freshness. UV light can cause the breakdown of valuable nutrients – therefore, we recommend storing the bundle in a dark and cool place at home as well.

We bought from here and all was good. This last batch, half of it is not ripe (the seeds are small and green). I lost confidence in ordering this again.
