A little house doesn't have to be just a sleeping place. For small rodents, a house can also become part of the route through the enclosure. The Trixie Castle has multiple openings and levels, allowing your animal to choose: in, out, up, over, or simply sit sheltered for a moment.
This little castle is great fun for mice because they enjoy climbing, exploring, and using different routes. For dwarf hamsters, it is primarily a playful hiding place that can be placed low in the enclosure. Due to its compact size and small openings, this house is mainly intended for small animals.
For dwarf hamsters, it is best to place the castle low in the enclosure, for example, partially against the bedding. This keeps the house easily accessible and prevents high points of failure. For mice, the castle can be more part of a playful route, as long as there are sufficient safe stepping stones and landing spots around the house.
This castle is too small for Syrian hamsters. The openings are approx. ø 3.5 cm and approx. 3.5 × 5.5 cm. For a Syrian hamster, it is preferable to choose a more spacious house with larger entrances. This castle is also too small as a suitable hiding or sleeping place for gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus.

The wooden products are made from bark wood and wood with a natural character. As a result, the structure may vary slightly from castle to castle. Some bark may also come loose in places. This is characteristic of this type of material and fits the natural appearance of the product.
The wood species used are softwoods without resin canals. The wood is dried for a long period, and the glue used consists of a cellulose-based mixture. However, always inspect the house yourself for wear, loose parts, and gnaw marks.
Is the small house being used as a toilet? Then it is better to remove it, clean it, and possibly make slight adjustments to the interior. Wood looks its best when used dry and clean.
