Product description

Trixie Natural Living Hamster House Tammo 30 cm

The Trixie Natural Living Hamster House Tammo is a playful wooden house for mice and dwarf hamsters. This little house is not just a single hiding place, but a small discovery tower with multiple levels, passageways, a small staircase, and a log tunnel. As a result, Tammo fits beautifully into a natural interior or hamsterscape where your pet can hide, climb, sniff around, and create routes.

For small rodents, choice in their enclosure is important. They want to be able to hide, but also to explore and move from place to place without constantly having to walk through an open space. Tammo helps with this by connecting multiple small spaces. This creates a compact house with plenty of sensory experiences, especially for curious mice and dwarf hamsters.

In short

  • Three-story wooden hamster house
  • Suitable for mice and dwarf hamsters
  • Dimensions: approximately 25 × 12 × 30 cm
  • With steps, passageways, and a log tunnel
  • Partially open bottom with round opening
  • Beautiful for hamsterscaping and natural decor

Pros of Trixie Tammo Hamster House

Three levels: gives small rodents multiple routes, heights, and spots to explore.
Great for hamsterscaping: the natural wood look blends nicely with bedding, moss, cork, and sand zones.
With bottom opening: the round opening makes it possible to create a route to the bedding.
Multiple hiding places: pleasant for mice and dwarf hamsters who like sheltered spots.
Resin-free natural wood: made from dried softwood species without resin canals.

Why choose Hamster House Tammo?

Small rodents are true explorers. They like to follow fixed routes, crawl through passages, and use hiding places to feel safe. Tammo aligns well with this, as the little house combines various functions: sheltering, climbing, exploring, and creating a route to the bedding.

Your pet can take the small wooden staircase to the second floor. From there, the route continues to the middle house and through the log tunnel to the highest part. This makes Tammo especially fun for animals that like to move through small passages and want to explore multiple spots within a single house.

The little house is also interesting for owners who want to furnish an enclosure not only beautifully, but also logically. Tammo helps to add height, shelter, and structure without having to combine many separate parts.

Is Tammo suitable for hamsterscaping?

Yes, Tammo is very suitable for hamsterscaping for dwarf hamsters. Hamsterscaping revolves around a natural setup that suits the animal's behavior. Hiding, digging, foraging, following routes, and being able to make their own choices are important components of this.

Thanks to the multiple levels and the opening in the bottom, you can beautifully incorporate Tammo into a scape with a deep layer of hamster bedding . For example, you can place the house stably on or partially embedded in the bedding, so that the opening in the bottom becomes part of a digging route.

A piece of dried moss on the roof or platform provides a beautiful natural finish. This pairs well with hamsterscaping , cork, wooden tunnels, sand zones, and other natural materials.

Why is there a hole in the bottom?

The round opening in the bottom is intended to connect the house to the bedding. Small rodents enjoy digging and like to use multiple escape routes around their hiding place. Through the opening in the bottom, your animal can make a route down from the house or, conversely, come up from the bedding.

This works particularly well with a deep and stable digging layer. Make sure to place Tammo firmly so that the house does not tilt when your animal digs underneath or next to it. Check daily to ensure the house remains stable.

For which animals is Trixie Tammo suitable?

  • Mouse: very suitable as a playhouse and hideout with multiple levels, routes, and small passages.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a hamsterscaping house and discovery site in a spacious enclosure with sufficient bedding.
  • Syrian hamster: not suitable. The openings and small houses are too cramped for a Syrian hamster.
  • Gerbil: not the first choice. The passages are small and gerbils can extensively work wood.
  • Rat and pygmy rat: not suitable. The openings and levels are too small.
  • Guinea pigs and rabbits: not suitable. This house is designed for small rodents.
  • Chinchilla and degu: not suitable as enclosure components. The dimensions and openings are better suited for mice and dwarf hamsters.

Use with group animals

Tammo can be great fun for mice, because mice enjoy living together and appreciate multiple routes and hiding places. For a small group of mice, Tammo can be a nice extra hiding and playing area.

For group animals, it remains important to offer at least one spacious shared shelter that all animals can fit into at the same time. Tammo can be nicely used alongside this as a playful house, route marker, and object of discovery. This gives the group more choice and prevents one little house from becoming the only important resting place.

Can Tammo be placed on the bedding?

Yes, that is possible. Make sure to place the house securely and check regularly to ensure your animal isn't digging unsafely underneath it. With a deep layer of bedding, a house can sink if tunnels are created underneath.

If you use Tammo in an enclosure with a deep digging layer, we advise placing the house firmly. If necessary, press it lightly into the bedding or place it on a stable surface. Check daily that the house is still standing straight and that there is no risk of your animal becoming trapped due to subsidence.

How do you clean a wooden house?

It is best to clean wood as dry as possible. First, remove bedding, food remnants, and loose dirt particles. Then, you can wipe the house with a slightly damp cloth if necessary. Always let the wood dry completely before putting it back.

If your pet urinates in or on the house, a suitable urine spray can help to better tackle urine odor and stains. Do not wet the wood unnecessarily, as wood can warp due to moisture. Always check that all parts are still sturdy after cleaning.

Dimensions and openings

  • Dimensions: approximately 25 × 12 × 30 cm
  • House openings: approximately 4 × 5 cm
  • Step length: approximately 7.5 × 5 cm
  • Tree trunk openings: approximately 3.5 cm
  • Open bottom: partial, with a round opening in the bottom
  • Material: wood

Due to the small openings, Tammo is particularly suitable for mice and dwarf hamsters. For larger hamsters and other rodents, we recommend a more spacious house with larger passages.

Compound

Composition: wood.

The wood species used are softwoods without resin canals. The wood species do not produce resin and are dried for a long period. The glue used consists of a mixture with cellulose and, according to the product specification, is non-toxic to animals.

Good to know

Offer Hamster House Tammo only under supervision and check regularly for wear and tear. Look out for loose parts, gnawing damage, rough edges, and openings that become larger or sharper due to gnawing. If the house becomes wet, dirty, unstable, or heavily gnawed to pieces, remove it from the enclosure. Always place Tammo stably and prevent the house from sinking due to burrows underneath the product.
