Product description

Trixie Willow Bridge 22 cm for small rodents

The Trixie Willow Bridge 22 cm is a flexible bridge made of natural, untreated willow wood. You can use this bridge in various ways in the enclosure of mice, dwarf hamsters, and gerbils: as a small bridge, tunnel, hiding place, step, or natural divider between different zones.

Precisely because the willow bridge is flexible, you can easily adapt it to your layout. Turn it into an arch, place it as a partition between two types of bedding, or use it as a small canopy. This way, you give the enclosure more structure, shelter, and variety without making it complicated.

What is a willow bridge?

A willow bridge consists of multiple willow sticks connected by flexible iron wire. This allows you to arrange the bridge in various shapes. This makes the product very practical for natural-style landscaping, as you decide how the bridge fits into the enclosure.

For example, you can use the willow bridge as an arched tunnel, a small house, a bridge over a low zone, or as a border to keep bedding in place. This way, a single product is usable in multiple ways, and you can easily adjust the layout when rearranging the enclosure.

Why choose a willow bridge for the enclosure?

Small rodents love shelter, routes, and variety. An open enclosure without hiding places often feels bare and illogical. With a willow bridge, you can easily create an extra passageway, a shady spot, or a hiding corner. This gives your animal more choice in how it moves through the enclosure.

For dwarf hamsters and mice, the bridge can also be used as a spacious hiding place. For gerbils, the bridge is particularly fun as a tunnel, divider, or natural gnawing element. Because gerbils love to dig and build, you can also partially embed the bridge in the bedding to create a natural route through the scape.

The willow bridge is also handy for owners who enjoy working with hamsterscaping , gerbilscaping , or a natural interior. The color and texture of willow combine beautifully with bedding, moss, cork, sand zones, and wooden accessories.

For which animals is the 22 cm Willow Bridge suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a tunnel, hiding place, small bridge, or natural route in the enclosure.
  • Dwarf hamster: very suitable as an arched tunnel, sleeping corner, step, or landscaping element.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a tunnel, enclosure, or gnawable landscaping material. Check regularly, as gerbils can actively modify wood.
  • Syrian hamster: usually too small as a proper hiding place. Potentially usable as a small bridge, ledge, or decorative landscaping element if the size fits.
  • Rat, guinea pig, and rabbit: not practical as a bridge or hiding place due to their small size. For these animals, it is better to choose a larger willow bridge or sturdier, suitable furnishings.
  • Chinchilla and degu: due to their size, usually less practical as a functional bridge. While these animals may find willow interesting, it is preferable to choose a size and design that suits their strength and enclosure.

How do you use the 22 cm Willow Bridge?

  • Carefully bend the bridge into the desired shape.
  • Use it as a tunnel, arch, step, or natural barrier.
  • Place the bridge stably on or partially in the ground cover.
  • Use it low in the enclosure and avoid awkward fall heights.
  • Regularly check whether the willow wood and the iron wire are still neatly and safely installed.

Do you want to use the bridge as an edge to hold back ground cover? That works very well, especially when working with different zones. However, first check that the willow sticks are close enough together. If gaps appear, finish them with, for example, moss, ground cover, or other soft landscaping material so that little paws cannot get in between.

Use as a small house, tunnel, or partition

As a house or tunnel: bend the bridge into an arch and place it firmly on the bedding. This creates a sheltered spot for mice and dwarf hamsters where they can walk underneath or take cover for a moment.

As a bridge or stepping stone: place the bridge low and stable between two zones. Do not use it as a high climbing bridge, but primarily as a low transition piece in the layout.

As a divider: place the bridge upright or slightly curved to separate different ground covers, sand zones, or landscaping sections. Always check that no open gaps form between the willow sticks where a paw could get stuck. Close such openings first with, for example, moss, ground cover, or other soft landscaping material before using the bridge as a divider. This works particularly well in natural enclosures where you are working with multiple zones.

Size

Dimensions: approximately 22 x 10 cm.

Due to its size, the willow bridge is particularly suitable for small rodents. Please measure beforehand to see if the bridge fits the spot where you want to use it, especially if you intend to use it as a tunnel or hiding place.

Compound

Composition: natural, untreated willow wood with flexible iron wire.

Willow is a natural wood species that is widely used for rodent products. Because it is a natural material, color, thickness, and structure may vary slightly from bridge to bridge.

Good to know

The 22 cm Willow Bridge is intended for small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, and gerbils. Offer the bridge under supervision and check regularly for wear, loose parts, or damage. If the bridge becomes wet, dirty, unstable, or heavily gnawed to pieces, remove it from the enclosure. Also ensure that the wire remains neatly incorporated and is not accessible due to gnawing damage.

Are you using the Willow Bridge as a partition or wall? Then first check if the willow sticks are close enough together. If gaps appear, cover them with, for example, moss or ground cover so that little feet cannot get in between.

Erg fijn!
