The willow bridge 27 cm is a "must have" item for small rodents. Below we would like to briefly explain what a willow bridge actually is and what you can do with it.

What is a willow bridge?

The willow bridge is made of willow wood and, in our opinion, an indispensable part of the rodent enclosure. The wood is 100% natural and untreated, so it is also safe to gnaw on. The blades are connected to each other by thick iron wire. The iron wire is flexible, so the bridge can be bent into all kinds of shapes, which is really nice for variation!

How do you use the willow bridge for small rodents?

The willow bridge 27 cm is a nice basic bridge that has an ideal length to use as a step to a higher part or, in its curved shape, as a shelter. The bridge has a kind of inlet or recess in the wood on one side, which is intended as a small feeding bowl in which you can put something tasty. This ensures that the animals go searching and have an extra challenge.

Tip! If you are not going to hang the bridge and you do not need the hooks, you can simply twist them out of the bridge.

Can this willow bridge be used for Hamsterscaping?

Yes absolutely! It's a great item for hamster scaping . The bridge can be used not only as a bridge but also as an embankment, shelter, ladder to another part and also as a wall for ground cover. When used as a wall, we recommend closing the cracks with moss so that no legs can get stuck in them.

Can the bridge be used as a wall to retain soil cover?

Yes, that is possible, but we recommend covering the top of the bridge with moss, for example. So that the animals cannot get their legs stuck in the cracks of the moss.

How can I use the willow bridge for larger rodents?

We do not think the bridge is actually suitable for larger rodents. The Rats are an exception. Because the bridge has hooks on both sides, you can hang this bridge in the rat cage very nicely and above all very stable. The best thing to do is to connect two sides of the cage. Most rat cages have a maximum depth of 50/60 cm so that the bridge can run from one side to the other and because it is secured with hooks, the rats can walk across it safely.

For larger rodents than rats, we recommend using a normal willow bridge.

Is the willow bridge nail-free?

Yes, the willow bridge is completely nail-free and contains no staples. The only thing incorporated into the bridge is the iron wire. However, the iron wire has been processed in a very safe manner so that the animals do not come into contact with it.
