Product description

Trixie Willow Ladder 27 cm for small rodents

The Trixie Willow Ladder 27 cm is a bendable willow bridge for small rodents. You can use this ladder as a bridge, step, hiding place, wall, tunnel, or natural gnawing material. Thanks to its flexible shape, it easily fits into various types of enclosures.

For mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, and degus, a willow bridge is a handy basic product. You can use it to create routes, hold back bedding, create a sheltered spot, or bridge a small height difference. It is also a great way to add more structure and natural materials in hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping.

In short

  • Bendable willow ladder/bridge of approx. 27 cm
  • Suitable for mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils, and degus
  • Can be used as a bridge, stepping stone, hiding place, low wall, or gnawing material.

Advantages of the Trixie Willow Ladder 27 cm

Made of natural, untreated willow wood
Bendable and therefore usable in many ways
Nice as a bridge, tunnel, stepping stone, or sheltered passageway
Great for hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping
Also interesting as natural gnawing material

Why choose a willow ladder?

A willow ladder is one of those products that you can use in multiple ways. You can use it straight as a walkway, set it up curved as a shelter or tunnel, or place it upright as a natural wall to better hold ground cover or landscaping material in place.

This is useful for small rodents, as it makes an enclosure more than just an open floor with loose accessories. With a willow bridge, you create routes, nooks, and sheltered spots. As a result, the setup feels more natural, and your animal gets more opportunities to walk, hide, gnaw, and explore.

Willow is also interesting as gnawing material. Many small rodents enjoy nibbling on natural wood. This makes this ladder not only decorative but also functional as an enrichment in the enclosure.

How do you use the Trixie Willow Ladder?

  • Bend the ladder into a tunnel shape and use it as a shelter.
  • Use it as a small bridge to a lower plateau or another part of the enclosure.
  • Place it upright as a small wall to hold back bedding or aquascaping material. Then finish the gaps with, for example, dried moss or bedding, so that little paws cannot get between the twigs.
  • Lay it flat or slightly curved as a natural route through the enclosure.
  • Hang it up with the hooks as a short connection in a wire cage, for example for mice or rats.

Are you using the willow bridge as a wall for ground cover? Then it is important to neatly finish the gaps between the twigs. This can be done, for example, with dried moss , ground cover, or other suitable landscaping material. This makes the transition more natural and prevents little paws from easily getting stuck in the cracks.

Not using the mounting hooks? You can easily unscrew them from the bridge. This way, you can also use the willow ladder separately in the ground cover, as a tunnel shape, or as a decorative element.

For which animals is the Trixie Willow Ladder suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a bridge, tunnel, hiding place, and climbing route. Mice like to use multiple routes and heights in the enclosure.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a low bridge, hiding place, tunnel, or hamsterscaping element. Place it stably and not too steeply.
  • Hamster: suitable as a low tunnel, bridge, or wall in the interior. Use it especially low and easily accessible.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a bridge, tunnel, wall, and gnawing material. Gerbils can gnaw vigorously, so check regularly for wear.
  • Degu: suitable as natural gnawing material or a small bridge in the decor. Regular monitoring is important for degus, as they enjoy gnawing.
  • Rat: suitable as a short suspension bridge or connection in a rat cage, especially when using the hooks to secure it firmly. The size is small for adult rats, so use it primarily as a route or extra challenge, not as a large resting place.

For larger animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits, and chinchillas, this 27 cm willow ladder is usually too small as a functional bridge or hiding place. For those animals, it is better to choose a larger willow bridge or a more spacious hiding place that suits their size.

Material and dimensions

  • Length: approx. 27 cm
  • Material: willow wood and iron wire
  • Mounting: with mounting hooks
  • Use: bridge, ladder, tunnel, hiding place, low wall, or gnawing material
  • Special features: nail-free and staple-free

The willow sticks are connected to each other with flexible iron wire. This allows you to bend the bridge into various shapes. The iron wire is incorporated between the sticks. Check the product regularly, especially when your animal is actively gnawing on the willow wood.

Good to know

  • Check regularly for wear, loose wood pieces, or visible wire.
  • Replace the willow ladder when it is no longer sturdy or in good condition.
  • Use it for hamsters and dwarf hamsters, low and stable.
  • Use it as gnawing material for gerbils and degus as well, but check very carefully.
  • Always finish off gaps when using the bridge upright as a low wall in a scape.
