It might be interesting to know that most herbivorous (plant-eating) rodents like guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus prefer to poop where they eat. This may sound strange, but these animals have a different digestive system, which is kept going by the fact that they eat throughout the day. If the hay rack is placed directly above the toilet, even guinea pigs will defecate a large portion of their waste in the toilet.

The size of the litter box is important. Always choose a spacious litter box for your rodent or rabbit, so they have plenty of room. For smaller rodents that live in groups, a larger litter box is recommended so it doesn't get soiled too quickly.
