Are you looking for a fresh green plant that not only looks beautiful in the enclosure but is also something your animal can actually use? The Knaagdier Kruidenier Fresh Organic Millet is a natural addition for rodents and rabbits who love to sniff, pluck, and nibble. The fine, fresh blades of grass provide variety in their daily diet and also make this plant a lovely living decoration in a natural-style setting.
Fresh plants instantly add more atmosphere to an enclosure, but above all, a more engaging experience. Your animal can go exploring on its own, pull off small blades, and explore the plant in a natural way. That is precisely what makes millet so much fun: it is not just something to eat, but also something to play with.
✔ 100% ORGANIC
✔ Specially cultivated as a food plant for animals
✔ Fun to pull, sniff, and nibble on
✔ Ideal for Hamsterscaping & Gerbilscaping
For lovers of a naturally decorated enclosure, fresh millet grass is a very nice addition. It immediately gives the enclosure a green, living appearance and fits beautifully into a scape with wood, cork, moss, and natural ground cover. The plant really comes into its own, especially in a corner with humus .
You can offer the millet grass in a pot or place it directly in a humus zone. In a pot, it is convenient if you want to remove the plant from the enclosure in between to allow it to recover. If you place it directly in the bedding, it looks even more natural and truly becomes part of the landscape. Mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and rats often approach it out of curiosity. Gerbils are usually a bit quicker at plucking and destroying, and that is precisely what makes it so fun to watch.

While dried harvest is primarily suitable as foraging material and nibble enrichment, fresh millet provides a different experience. Your animal can walk up to the plant itself, pull on it, and take small tufts. That feels natural and active. For many animals, this is more appealing than when the greens are already lying loose in a container.
Millet is also a great choice for owners who appreciate a calm, natural look in the enclosure. The plant looks fresh, is easy to use, and fits well with a setup where you want to focus more on natural behavior, foraging, and enrichment. The only thing to keep in mind is that a fresh plant does not always stay neat for long. Some animals eat it calmly, while others immediately get to work on it enthusiastically. That is exactly part of the idea of fresh enrichment.
Mouse, dwarf hamster, hamster, and gerbil: very nice as a pluckable plant in the enclosure. These animals enjoy using it as foraging enrichment and often discover it with their paws and noses.
Dwarf rat and rat: suitable as a fresh change of pace and natural enrichment. Rats, in particular, often find it interesting to pull at, dissect, and eat them.
Guinea pig and rabbit: you can offer small tufts or the whole plant under supervision as a fresh green variety alongside hay and the daily food.
Chinchilla: only in small quantities and as a variation, in accordance with what your animal is used to regarding fresh products.
Ideally, place the millet grass in a bright spot that is not too warm. A cool, bright location helps keep the plant looking good for longer. Water moderately: the root ball should remain slightly moist, but preferably not soaking wet. You can use a spray bottle to water very precisely, especially when the plant is in a scape or humus corner.
If you use the plant in the enclosure, it is a good idea to check occasionally whether it is still clean and fresh. If the plant becomes very wet or dirty due to substrate or urine, remove it and replace it with a fresh one.
100% fresh organic millet grass plant
The plants are intended for consumption by rodents and rabbits, not as ornamental plants for the home. A little plant knowledge is always helpful for keeping live plants looking beautiful for a long time, but the most important thing is that the plant is offered to your animal fresh, clean, and attractive.
Not every animal reacts the same way to a fresh plant. One might gently nibble away a few blades, while another immediately pulls the plant apart with enthusiasm. Both are perfectly normal. Especially with animals that are not yet accustomed to fresh green additions, a calm introduction is often the most pleasant.
