Product description

Rodent Grocer Dried Nettle Leaves

Dried nettle leaves make a delicious, crunchy leaf topping for rabbits and rodents. You can supplement their daily diet by sprinkling a small amount into the hay, hiding some leaves in the enclosure, or using them as a "sniffing leaf" in a foraging area. This way, you can make feeding time just a little more enjoyable without having to provide large quantities at once.

In short

  • Complementary animal feed: 100% dried nettle leaf
  • For rabbits & rodents: from mice to guinea pigs (also chinchillas & degus)
  • Ideal for foraging: scatter, hide or mix with hay
  • Available in multiple packages (including 80 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg)

Crispy leaf structure: easy to mix with hay
Makes eating more active: searching, sniffing and “harvesting”
Easy to dose: small portions for variety
Also nice as edible decoration in hamster scaping, gerbil scaping and rat scaping

Why give nettle leaves?

Leaves and herbs provide variety and give your pet something to do. Nettle leaf has a distinctive scent and a firm bite, which is why many animals enjoy picking and nibbling it. By offering it in a scattered setting, you encourage foraging: eating becomes an activity instead of just emptying a bowl.

How to use dried nettle leaves

  • Through the hay: mix a few leaves through the hay for extra sniffing action.
  • Sprinkle & Hide: Sprinkle a small amount over the ground cover or hide it under a bridge/tunnel.
  • Foraging toys: put some leaves in a foraging ball, roll or sniffing spot.

Use per animal (practical guideline)

  • Small rodents (mouse, dwarf hamster, hamster, gerbil): 1 small leaf or a few crumbs, offered in divided doses.
  • (Dwarf) rats: a few leaves at a time; ideal for hiding or combining with foraging.
  • Herbivores (guinea pig, rabbit, chinchilla, degu): a small handful as a topping for hay or as a herbal treat. Build up gradually if your pet is not yet accustomed to herbs.

Composition & analysis

Good to know

  • Not for food producing animals.

FAQ

Is this suitable for all rodents and rabbits?
Yes, this product is intended as a supplement for rodents and rabbits. For small animals, give them small portions to ensure a varied diet.

Can I use this for foraging?
Absolutely. Nettle leaves are actually nice to scatter or hide, so your pet can search for and pick them.

How often do I give this?
Think of it as a spice moment: it's better to eat a little more often than a large portion now and then. This way, it stays interesting and manageable.

What is the best way to store dried herbs?
Dark, dry, and airy. Do you see condensation, lumps, or smell musty? Then it's time to replace your supply.
