Product description

Beeztees Forest Bedding 800 grams

Beeztees Forest Bedding is a natural top layer and foraging layer for owners who want to give their enclosure more structure, scent, and exploration. This bedding is composed of forest elements such as pine cone pieces, moss, and pine bark. As a result, the enclosure immediately acquires a natural look that fits beautifully with hamsterscaping, gerbilscaping, ratscaping, a sniffing box, or an enrichment corner.

At DRD, we primarily use these types of materials as an extra layer on top of the normal bedding. So, not as a complete base bedding for the entire enclosure, but as a play layer, sniffing layer, decorative forest floor, or foraging zone. Sprinkle a thin layer in a chosen spot, hide some food or herbs in between, and your animal can enjoy searching, sniffing, and discovering.

Advantages of Beeztees Forest Bedding

Instantly gives the enclosure a natural forest look

Stimulates sniffing, searching, and foraging
Combines beautifully with cork, tunnels, moss, small plants, and digging zones
Convenient packaging of approx. 800 grams for multiple decorating or foraging moments

Why choose a natural forest layer?

Many animals appreciate it when their enclosure does not consist of a single flat layer, but of various zones. Think of a digging zone, sand zone, nesting area, tunnel route, and a small foraging corner. Bos Bedding helps to give such a layout more depth. The different structures invite sniffing, searching, and moving small distances.

For hamsters and gerbils, Forest Bedding fits beautifully into a natural scape. You can use it, for example, around a cork tunnel, near a multi-chambered house, or in a small woodland corner. For rats and pygmy rats, it is particularly interesting in a digging box or Ratscaping zone, where they can sniff and forage. For guinea pigs and rabbits, it is preferable to use it as a small sniffing area or enrichment tray, rather than as full bedding.

The great advantage of a top layer is that you work very precisely. You don't have to fill the entire enclosure with it. A handful of Forest Bedding in the right spot can be enough to make an ordinary corner more interesting. For example, hide a few herbs, seeds, kibble, or small snacks in between, and your animal will really have to search for them.

For which animals is Bos Bedding suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a natural top layer, sniffing layer, and foraging material. Mice enjoy using various textures in their enclosure and can search for small food particles among the forest elements.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable for hamsterscaping, for example as a small wooded corner, a top layer around cork, or a foraging area. Use it on top of a suitable base bedding.
  • Hamster: suitable as a natural top layer and enrichment in a Syrian hamster enclosure. Looks great near tunnels, hiding places, and foraging zones where your hamster can sniff and search on its own.
  • Gerbil: suitable as landscaping material and a foraging layer. Gerbils are real diggers and destroyers; use Bos Bedding as extra structure on top of a sturdy digging layer or in a separate discovery corner.
  • Dwarf rat: suitable as a natural sniffing and foraging layer in a digging box or Ratscaping zone. Dwarf rats are curious and enjoy using this type of material to explore.
  • Rat: suitable as enrichment in a digging box, sniffing box, or Ratscaping corner. Use it as a playful top layer and combine it with tunnels, paper material, bedding, and foraging toys.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a small sniffing or foraging area, for example in a shallow tray or enrichment corner. For daily bedding, it is better to choose a soft, absorbent base that suits guinea pig paws.
  • Rabbit: suitable as a sniffing mat or enrichment tray. Sprinkle a small amount in a shallow tray and hide herbs or pellets in between, so your rabbit can search in a calm manner.
  • Chinchilla: suitable as a dry discovery and foraging layer in a small enrichment corner. Use it sparingly and dry, alongside the normal setup with a sand bath, platforms, hay, and suitable hiding places.
  • Degu: suitable as a natural top layer or foraging area. Degus are active animals that enjoy searching and gnawing; combine Forest Bedding with a simple feeding routine, hay, and sturdy furnishings.
  • Bird: suitable as a natural scratching or foraging layer for suitable bird enclosures. Use dry and replace when it becomes dirty or damp.

How do you use Bos Bedding?

Use Forest Bedding as a thin layer on top of existing bedding or in a separate foraging box. Sprinkle a small amount in the spot where you want to create more structure or exploration. Then you can hide a few pellets, herbs, dried flowers, or small snacks in between.

For hamsters and gerbils, a nice round cork, tunnels, wooden houses, or a plant zone works well. For rats and pygmy rats, it fits well in a digging box or Ratscaping section. For guinea pigs and rabbits, a low sniffing box often works best: it is easy to keep an eye on things, easy to clean, and simple to change.

Because Bos Bedding is a natural product, every package may look slightly different. One bag might contain a bit more bark, while another might contain more moss or pine cone pieces. This is part of the natural character of this material and makes every interior just a little bit different.

Usage & consumption

How long an 800-gram bag lasts depends on how you use the Bos Bedding. This material is not intended as a complete bedding; as a top layer or foraging layer, you can dose it very precisely.

Usage Practical indication
Small scape corner Use a few handfuls as a decorative forest layer around a house, tunnel, or digging zone.
Foraging bin Use a thin layer and hide food, spices, or snacks in between.
Larger natural setting Use it as accent material in multiple places, not as a complete base fill.

Material & composition

Material/composition: natural forest elements, including pieces of pine cone, moss, and pine bark.

Weight: approx. 800 grams.

Bos Bedding is a natural product. As a result, color, shape, scent, piece size, and material ratio may vary from package to package. The photo therefore primarily provides a general impression of the type of material.

Good to know

Use Bos Bedding dry and replace any parts that have become dirty or damp. Observe how your animal interacts with the material during the first use. Some animals mainly sniff, while others will drag, gnaw, or dig with it. This exploration is part of using a natural foraging layer.

For animals with sensitive airways, such as rats, it is best to use this material specifically in a digging or sniffing box, rather than as general bedding throughout the entire enclosure. This way, it remains a fun enrichment, while the basic structure of the enclosure remains dust-free and practically designed.
