When using a running wheel, always check that the enclosure is high enough. The wheel itself, the platform, and the clearance above must fit together properly so that your animal can run safely without the wheel hitting the roof or the enclosure.

For which animals is the 40 cm Wooden Platform suitable?

• Mouse: suitable as an extra route, feeding spot, or raised surface in a mouse enclosure. Mice enjoy using different levels, as long as the placement remains safe and stable.
• Dwarf hamster: suitable as a spacious platform for a food bowl, water bowl, or exercise wheel in a dwarf hamster enclosure. Place the platform low and avoid high points of impact.
• Hamster: suitable as a practical platform in a hamsterscape. Especially useful for placing a running wheel, food bowl, or water bowl stably on top of a deep layer of bedding.
• Gerbil: limited suitability. Gerbils are true gnawers and can extensively damage wood. Use the platform only when you carefully check for gnawing damage and stability.
• Dwarf rat: suitable as an extra platform, step, or resting place, depending on the size of your dwarf rats and the setup of the enclosure.
• Rat: suitable as an extra platform or practical surface in a rat enclosure. Additionally, for larger groups of rats or high cages, securely attached rat platforms are often more logical.
• Guinea pig: not suitable as a platform. Guinea pigs are not climbers and primarily need low, spacious furnishings and sufficient floor space.
• Rabbit: not suitable. This platform is too small for rabbits and not suitable as a raised platform.
• Chinchilla: not suitable as a main platform. Chinchillas need larger, securely attached jumping platforms that suit their way of moving.
• Degu: not the first choice. Degus gnaw intensively and require sturdy platforms that are better suited to their strong gnawing behavior.

How do you use the platform safely?

Place the platform stably and check that it does not wobble. For hamsters and dwarf hamsters, preferably place it low down to avoid creating high points of failure. Hamsters enjoy using routes and elevated platforms, but are not height climbers like rats.

Are you using the platform in a terrarium with deep substrate? If so, preferably place the platform on a sturdy base and build up the substrate around it. This way, the platform remains more stable and looks more natural in the setup.

Beautiful for hamsterscaping and natural decor

In a natural setup, you can use the plateau as a quiet grooming zone. The deep bedding remains available for digging and nesting, while the plateau provides a flat surface for items that need to stand firmly.

You can also combine the platform with cork, branches, tunnels, and bedding. This way, it doesn't become a standalone wooden table, but a logical part of the route through the enclosure.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean the platform with a dry brush or a slightly damp cloth. Allow the wood to dry thoroughly before replacing it. Because plywood can absorb moisture, it is advisable to remove urine stains or wet food residue quickly.

This product is not nail-free. Therefore, check regularly for gnawing damage, loose parts, protruding components, splinters, and wear. Remove the platform when it becomes unstable, develops sharp edges, or can no longer be properly cleaned.
