Why a hammock in a chinchilla cage?
A hammock is a smart addition if you want to create more resting areas and height without cluttering the floor. Many chinchillas use a hammock as a permanent "chill spot": a place to rest after running, or simply relax in a quiet moment. Moreover, a hammock helps to divide the cage into layers, which often creates a sense of calm and order in the layout.
Which type of chinchilla hammock is right for you?
Looking for something soft and cozy ? Then plush and fabric hammocks are popular. Want more structure in your cage and a clear path? Then a suspension bridge (or a grass hammock) is a great choice. And for chinchillas who prefer more shelter, hanging tunnels and tube hammocks are ideal. Tip: combine your hammock with a stable resting point, such as a platform hammock , so you have both a fixed top and a soft place to hang.
Choice guide: how to make the right choice
Choose your hammock based on (1) size (is it spacious enough?), (2) type of rest (open hammock or more sheltered like a tube/tunnel), and (3) placement (corner, middle, or top). Want to start without any hassle? Start with one basic hammock in a quiet spot and see how your chinchilla handles it.
How do you use this?
