The Trixie Corner House Thordis 35 cm is a spacious wooden shelter for rats and guinea pigs. Thanks to the convenient corner shape, you can easily place the house in a corner of the enclosure, making smart use of the space and leaving more room to move around.
The house has an open base, a natural look, and a flat roof that can also be used as an extra seating area or platform. This makes Thordis not only a comfortable shelter but also a practical furnishing element for owners who want to organize the enclosure in a clear and functional way.
✔ Space-saving thanks to the practical corner shape
✔ Suitable as a shelter, resting place, and sleeping place
✔ The flat roof provides extra usable space in the accommodation
✔ Open bottom aids ventilation and makes the house easy to install
✔ Beautiful natural look for a calm, animal-friendly interior
A good shelter gives an animal the opportunity to retreat. This is especially important in an enclosure where a lot is happening: eating, walking, playing, foraging, and contact with other animals of the same species. The Trixie Corner House Thordis offers such a sheltered spot without taking up unnecessary space.
The corner shape is a major advantage in this regard. In many enclosures, corners remain underutilized, even though a shelter can make a very logical placement there. By placing the house in a corner, the center of the enclosure remains freer for movement, bedding, toys, and other furnishings.
The flat roof also makes this house practical. You can use it as an extra seating area, a lookout point, or a place for a food bowl. Guinea pigs and rats, in particular, like to use raised or flat spots as part of their route through the enclosure. This gives the house multiple functions instead of just serving as a shelter.
Because the house has an open bottom, it stands directly on the base of the enclosure. This is convenient, as it allows you to refresh the bedding underneath locally when necessary. If the house is used as a permanent sleeping or potty area, more frequent local cleaning is preferable.
For smaller animals such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils, this house is usually on the large side. Smaller wooden houses or tunnels are often more logical for these animals, as they better suit their size and way of moving.
The house is made of bark wood. This gives the product a natural and rustic appearance. Because wood and bark are natural materials, the texture may vary slightly from house to house. Some bark may also come loose in places; this is characteristic of this type of material and fits the natural look of the product.
Wood looks its best when used dry. Therefore, it is best not to place the house directly under a water bottle or in a place where moisture often accumulates.
Yes, the house is suitable as a shelter for guinea pigs. For multiple guinea pigs, it is advisable to place multiple hiding places in the enclosure so that each animal has sufficient choice.
Yes, for rats, the corner house is suitable as a spacious hiding place, sleeping area, or platform. Rats like to use different heights and routes, making the flat roof a nice additional feature.
Thanks to the corner shape, you can neatly place the house in a corner of the enclosure. This leaves more free space for movement, bedding, feeding areas, and other furnishings.
Yes, the flat roof can be used as an extra seating area, snack spot, or place for a food bowl. Just make sure the house is stable and that your animal can easily get on and off the roof.
First, remove loose bedding and dirt. For localized urine stains, you can use a suitable urine remover. Then, let the wood dry thoroughly before placing the house back in the enclosure.
Yes, that is part of bark wood. The structure, color, and bark layer may vary slightly from house to house. This gives each cottage its own unique natural look.
Combine the Trixie Thordis Corner House with suitable bedding, extra hiding places, and quiet walking routes. This makes the enclosure organized, practical, and pleasant for your pet.
