This 12 cm stainless steel food bowl is a compact and sturdy bowl for small rodents. You can use the holder to attach it to the bars of the enclosure. Does your enclosure have no bars, or would you rather use the bowl freestanding? Simply remove it from the holder and place it on the floor or on a flat platform.
The stainless steel is chew-resistant. This makes the bowl especially practical for animals that like to gnaw, such as gerbils, degus and chinchillas. It is also suitable for mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters and rats.
You can use the food bowl in two ways. In an enclosure with bars, attach the holder firmly to the bars. This gives the bowl a fixed position and makes it harder for your pet to push it around the enclosure. Attach it at a height where your pet can easily reach the food.
If the enclosure has no bars, such as a glass terrarium or aquarium, use the bowl without the holder. Place it on a flat and stable surface. A platform, tile or another firm part of the enclosure will keep it more level than a deep layer of loose bedding. This also helps to keep bedding out of the food.
An active animal may still move a freestanding stainless steel bowl. If you want to keep the feeding place in one position and the enclosure has suitable bars, using the holder is the most practical option.
Gerbils, degus and chinchillas can cause considerable damage to plastic food bowls. Stainless steel cannot be chewed apart in the same way. This makes it a practical choice for animals that like to test parts of their enclosure with their teeth.
The smooth surface is easy to wipe and clean. You can remove the bowl from the holder, making it easy to empty and wash.
The 12 cm size is mainly suitable for small rodents. You can use this food bowl for:
This food bowl is too small for guinea pigs and rabbits. For these animals, choose a larger bowl that better suits their size and the amount of food you provide.
If several animals live together, also consider the size of the group. Check that every animal can easily reach the food. A second or larger bowl may be more practical when several animals want to eat at the same time.
After attaching the bowl, check that the holder is firmly fixed to the bars and that the bowl sits securely inside it. If you use it without the holder, choose a flat place where it will not sink unevenly into the bedding.
Remove leftover food regularly and clean the bowl when it becomes dirty. Rinse it thoroughly after cleaning and allow it to dry before adding fresh food. This is also a good time to check that the bowl and holder still fit together properly.
