A wonderful sandbox for small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters and gerbils. A sandbox is important for daily coat care. The sandbox can easily be filled with chinchilla sand and the animals can bathe to their heart's content. The semi-closed shape ensures that most of the sand remains inboard and in the summer the cool ceramic baths can provide nice cooling!
✔ Durable ceramic
✔ Curved side walls reduce sand loss
✔ Natural nail wear
Of course, these sandboxes can also be used as hiding places for the animals. Add some ground cover and nesting material and the animals will have a cozy hiding place!
Strangely enough, ceramic is nice and warm in winter when the animals make their nests in it. This is due to the very good insulating effect of ceramic. It is not without reason that houses are now built with ceramic bricks because of their superior insulation in both winter and summer.
Fill the sandbox with enough chinchilla sand. By sufficient we mean a layer that is thick enough for a nice bath. Only use chinchilla sand as bath sand. Other types of sand are less or not suitable as bath sand. Under no circumstances should shell sand be used because it is too sharp and can damage the skin and fur of the animals.
Ceramics are glazed earthenware. The difference between terracotta and ceramic is that ceramic is glazed and terracotta is not glazed. The glaze layer makes ceramic: strong, water-resistant, insulating and easy to clean. The biggest advantage for us is that urine cannot be absorbed into the material. Any pee deposits can be removed this way, because they are absorbed.
