Product description

Trixie Rock Hiding Place 17 cm for mice and dwarf hamsters

The Trixie Rock Hideout 17 cm is a small, realistic resin hideout for mice and dwarf hamsters. Thanks to its steppe rock look, this little house fits beautifully into a natural interior or hamsterscaping for small animals.

The hiding place has a low shape, an open bottom, and a small entrance. This makes it easy to place on top of or lightly in the bedding. Your animal gets a sheltered spot to crawl under, sit out of sight for a moment, or walk through.

Why choose a small rock shelter?

Small rodents enjoy having multiple sheltered spots in their enclosure. A hiding place provides peace and freedom of choice: your animal can choose whether it wants to be visible, sit under a small house, or prefer to take a different route through the enclosure.

The Trixie Rock Hideout 17 cm is, due to its compact size, particularly suitable as an extra hiding place in a natural setup. For mice, the house can be part of a route with tunnels, platforms, and bedding. For dwarf hamsters, it is a low hiding place that fits nicely into a hamsterscape.

Because the house is made of resin, it is smoother and easier to clean than many wooden houses. This is handy when your pet likes to eat in or near the hiding place, hoards, or uses the spot intensively.

How do you use the Rock Shelter in the enclosure?

  • Place the shelter low and stable on, or lightly in, the bedding.
  • Ensure that the small opening remains easily accessible.
  • Optionally finish the edges with ground cover, moss, or cork.
  • Use the hiding place as a resting place, passageway, or sheltered corner.
  • Check for sharp edges or wear before use and regularly thereafter.

For dwarf hamsters, placing it low is most comfortable. These animals live primarily on and in the ground and are not true climbers. Therefore, do not use this hiding place as a high climbing object or as a platform from which your animal could fall from a great height.

For which animals is this shelter suitable?

  • Mouse: suitable as a small hiding place, passageway, and part of a natural setting. Mice can also move over the hiding place when it is stable.
  • Dwarf hamster: suitable as a low hiding place in a hamsterscape. Do check if your dwarf hamster fits comfortably through the opening.

For Syrian hamsters, gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, this hideout is too small as a suitable shelter or sleeping place. For these animals, it is better to choose a larger house that matches their size and movement patterns.

Hamsterscape with a rock look

The steppe rock look makes this house fun for hamsterscaping for dwarf hamsters. You can incorporate the rock among bedding, sand, moss, cork, and tunnels. This creates a natural transition between different zones in the enclosure.

  • Use the rock as a small hiding place between the ground cover and moss.
  • Combine with cork or tunnels for more route options.
  • Finish the edges with ground cover for a natural transition.
  • Always place the rock stably and low.

Do you want a house for a larger hamster or a more spacious hiding place? Then you should choose a larger hamster house or a larger rock hiding place.

Erg leuk hamsterhuisje voor een dwerghamster. Hij had wel iets minder plat gemogen dan was hij net wat royaler geweest. Maar verder echt n toppertje

Erop, eronder, ernaast, hamstertje is hier heel blij mee! Daarnaast slijten haar nageltjes door de buitenkant. Enige minpunt is dat ie erg plastic voelt, vooral aan de binnenkant en erg licht is naar mijn mening. Had van mij iets zwaarder gemogen..
