Product description

Multi-chamber Bungalow Corner House 24 cm for small rodents

The Multi-Chamber Bungalow Corner House 24 cm is a wooden corner house with multiple rooms for small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, and gerbils. Thanks to its corner shape, you can place the house nicely in a quiet corner of the enclosure, so it wastes little space while still providing plenty of shelter.

When it comes to multi-chamber houses, DRD always considers size, openings, material, and how the house is used within the interior design. This corner house has a compact yet clever shape, an open bottom, and openings of approx. ø 6 cm. As a result, it is particularly well-suited for smaller animals that like to shelter, nest, hoard, and arrange their own chambers.

Why choose a corner multi-room house?

A multi-chamber house helps small rodents use their enclosure in a natural way. Instead of one open space, they get multiple sheltered rooms. This allows your animal to choose where it wants to sleep, where it wants to store something, and where it wants to retreat for a while.

The corner shape makes this little house extra practical. You can place it in a corner of the enclosure, allowing it to blend in nicely with the decor. This is useful for hamsterscaping and gerbilscaping, as it allows you to create distinct zones: a quiet hiding place, a digging area, a sand bath, and optionally a foraging spot.

For small animals, such a permanent house provides a lot of structure. Mice like to use small routes and hiding spots. Dwarf hamsters enjoy making a nest and a food storage area. Gerbils often use houses and tunnels as part of their active digging and running routes. As a result, this corner house can truly become a functional base spot in the enclosure.

For which animals is the Multi-Room House Bungalow Hoek suitable?

  • Mouse: very suitable as a compact corner house with multiple rooms. Mice can use it to shelter, rest, and move safely through its interior.
  • Dwarf hamster: very suitable for hamsterscaping. The chambers provide shelter and offer space for a nest and a food storage area.
  • Hamster: only suitable for smaller hamsters if the openings of approx. ø 6 cm are wide enough. For Syrian hamsters and sturdily built golden hamsters, this house is too small to serve as a full-fledged hiding place.
  • Gerbil: suitable as a wooden corner house in a gerbilscape. Gerbils are active diggers and gnawers, so place the house stably and check regularly for gnawing marks and wear.

This house is too small for pygmy rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus. For these animals, it is better to choose a more spacious house, tunnel, or hiding place where the openings, interior space, and overall size match their body size.

Is this multi-chamber house suitable for hamsterscaping?

Yes, this corner multi-chamber house is very suitable for hamsterscaping, especially for dwarf hamsters. Hamsterscaping revolves around an interior design that aligns with natural behavior: hiding, nesting, hoarding, digging, creating routes, and being able to make their own choices. A multi-chamber house fits this well because it provides multiple sheltered spaces instead of just one open sleeping area.

Thanks to its corner shape, you can place the little house nicely in a fixed resting zone. Set it down low and stable so that it cannot tip over or sag. The roof is simply part of the house and can be beautifully incorporated into the natural look. For example, place a little dried moss or a light natural decoration on it so that the house blends in even more beautifully with a natural interior .

Is this house suitable for gerbilscaping?

Yes, this little house can also be beautifully incorporated into a gerbilscape. Gerbils love an active setup with digging layers, tunnels, wooden structures, and multiple routes. A corner multi-chamber house can serve as a hiding place, passageway, and fixed landmark within the enclosure.

Because gerbils enjoy gnawing and digging, it is important to place the house securely. If necessary, bury it partially in the bedding, but keep the entrances clear. Check regularly to ensure the edges and openings remain clean. Gnaw marks are part of wooden furnishings, but sharp or loose parts must always be replaced.

How do you use the cottage in the accommodation?

  • Place the little house low and stable in a corner of the enclosure.
  • Preferably place it on a flat surface or a firm layer of ground cover.
  • Let your pet fill the house itself with bedding or suitable nesting material.
  • Keep the openings clear so that your animal can easily go in and out.
  • Combine the playhouse with tunnels, bedding, a sand bath, and natural decoration.
  • Regularly check that the house is still standing firmly and has no sharp damage.

For dwarf hamsters, you can combine the house with a deep digging layer, a sand bath, a cork tunnel, moss, and natural decorations. For mice, it fits well into a setup with multiple small routes and hiding places. For gerbils, you can incorporate the house into a sturdy scape with plenty of digging and gnawing material.

Material and assembly

The Multi-Room Bungalow Corner House is made of plywood and features a nail-free finish. The house is easy to assemble using the click system. This results in a light, compact, and natural-looking house that fits well in an enclosure for small rodents.

Wood is a natural material. As a result, small color differences, grain patterns, or slight variations in the finish may occur. This is part of the character of a wooden playhouse and makes each one just a little bit unique.

Good to know

This house has openings of approx. ø 6 cm. This is fine for mice, dwarf hamsters, and many gerbils, but it may be too cramped for larger hamsters. Therefore, always consider the actual size and build of your animal. An entrance must be spacious enough so that your animal can enter and exit comfortably.

Always place the house securely and check regularly for wear or signs of gnawing. This is part of normal use of wooden furnishings. When edges become sharp or parts come loose, it is time to replace the house. Preferably clean the house dry or slightly damp, and always allow the wood to dry thoroughly before reinstalling it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this corner house suitable for a Syrian hamster?
No, for most Syrian hamsters and golden hamsters, this house is too small. The openings of approx. ø 6 cm are not wide enough for many Syrian hamsters to serve as a comfortable entrance.

What is the advantage of a corner model?
A corner model fits nicely into a corner of the enclosure. This makes it easy to create a quiet hiding area and leaves more space for other elements, such as a sand bath, running wheel, digging zone, or foraging area.

Can I use this little house for gerbils?
Yes, this house can be used for gerbils. Place it securely, keep the openings clear, and check regularly for gnawing marks, as gerbils can be actively working on wooden furnishings.

Why does the little house have an open bottom?
An open bottom ensures that the house stands directly on the bedding. This allows your pet to bring in bedding or nesting material itself and use the chambers according to its own preference.

De opening van ø 6 cm is veel te klein voor een Syrische/goudhamster. Verder een leuk huisje.
