Product description

Trixie PURE NATURE Hay Rack with Hay, Marigold & Corn Cob

The Trixie PURE NATURE Hay Rack with Hay is a complementary wooden rack filled with hay, marigold blossoms, and pieces of corn on the cob. As a result, this product is not only a hay rack but also a fun foraging and snacking activity for rodents such as mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits.

Your animal can pull at the hay, search for the marigold, and nibble on pieces of corn on the cob. This makes mealtime more active and interesting. For guinea pigs and rabbits, this hay rack is primarily an extra hay and snack moment in addition to their daily hay. For mice, it is a fun form of enrichment: they can climb, search, nibble, and use pieces of hay as nesting or scaving material.

In short

  • Additional hay rack with hay, marigold blossoms, and pieces of corn on the cob.
  • Dimensions: approx. 17 × 17 × 20 cm
  • Suitable for rodents, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits
  • Fun as a foraging activity, snack time, and natural enrichment
  • Not suitable for chinchillas and degus due to the pieces of corn cob.

Advantages of the Trixie PURE NATURE Hay Rack

Filled with hay, marigold blossoms, and pieces of corn on the cob
Stimulates searching, pulling, nibbling, and foraging
Nice as an additional hay rack alongside the daily hay
Wooden hay rack with a natural look
Combines nicely with hay racks , hay , and foraging toys

Why choose a filled hay rack?

A filled hay rack makes eating more active. Instead of hay lying loosely in one spot, your animal has to pull, search, and choose. The combination of hay, marigold, and pieces of corn on the cob makes this rack extra interesting to explore.

For guinea pigs and rabbits, good hay remains the basis of their daily diet. This hay rack is therefore primarily intended as extra enrichment alongside unlimited fresh hay. The marigold blossoms and pieces of corn cob make foraging more attractive, while the rack provides an alternative feeding time within the enclosure.

For mice, this filled hay rack is particularly interesting as an enrichment. Mice can climb, search for the small snack pieces, and use the hay as nesting material or as a natural element in the enclosure.

How do you use the Trixie Hay Rack with Hay?

  • Place the hay rack stably on a dry spot in the enclosure or run.
  • Use the hay rack as an additional foraging moment alongside regular hay.
  • Regularly check that no loose or sharp parts develop.
  • Replace or remove the hay rack when it is too badly gnawed or is no longer sturdy.
  • In addition, always give guinea pigs and rabbits access to suitable fresh hay.

Do not place the hay rack in a wet spot or directly under a water bottle. Hay remains most pleasant when it stays dry and fresh. If the hay rack becomes dirty or damp, remove it from the enclosure.

For which animals is this hay rack suitable?

  • Rodents: suitable as a supplementary hay rack and forage product for animals for which hay, marigold, and pieces of corn cob are suitable.
  • Mouse: suitable as a foraging and enrichment product. Mice can climb, search for pieces of marigold and corn cob, nibble on the hay, and use hay as nesting or landscaping material.
  • Guinea pig: suitable as a supplementary hay rack and snack time alongside unlimited fresh hay. Place the rack in a dry, easily accessible location.
  • Rabbit: suitable as a supplementary hay rack and foraging moment. Use this product alongside the daily hay, not as the sole hay source.

This filled hay rack is not suitable for chinchillas and degus due to the pieces of corn cob. For these animals, it is preferable to choose a hay rack or hay snack without corn and with ingredients that better suit their frugal dietary needs.

For hamsters and gerbils, hay can sometimes be used as decoration or nesting material, but we position this specific filled hay rack primarily for mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits.

Hay rack and openings: what to look out for?

With every hay rack, it is important to check that the openings fit your animal. An animal must be able to reach the hay, but its head must not be able to get stuck between the bars. Therefore, always check how your animal uses the rack.

  • Make sure that your animal cannot get its entire head stuck between the openings.
  • Check the hay rack extra carefully for young, small, or very curious animals.
  • Remove the hay rack when you notice your animal trying to squeeze into it.
  • Check regularly for loose parts, sharp edges, or damage.

Are you unsure if a hay rack is suitable for your animal? Then it is better to choose a rack with a smaller or differently positioned opening, or use another method to offer hay.

Material and dimensions

  • Type: supplementary hay rack
  • Dimensions: approx. 17 × 17 × 20 cm
  • Filling: hay with marigold blossoms and pieces of corn on the cob
  • Use: supplementary hay rack, foraging activity, and snack time
  • Suitable for: rodents, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits
  • Not suitable for: chinchillas and degus due to the pieces of corn cob
  • Safety advice: only offer under supervision and check regularly for wear

The wooden parts have a natural appearance. Because wood and bark are natural materials, the texture may vary slightly from product to product. Some bark may also come loose in places. This is characteristic of this type of material and complements the natural look of the hay rack.

The bark wood used contains fewer resin canals and undergoes a careful drying process. However, always check the product yourself for wear, loose parts, and gnaw marks, especially if your animal uses the hay rack intensively.

Cleaning and maintenance

  • Use the hay rack only when dry.
  • Remove loose residue when the hay rack becomes empty or dirty.
  • Regularly check whether the wooden parts are still sturdy.
  • Remove the hay rack when it is damp, dirty, or damaged.
  • Replace the product if loose parts, sharp edges, or severe wear occur.

Because this is a filled hay rack, you use it primarily as a temporary foraging and snack product. When the filling runs out or the rack is no longer clean, you can replace it or, if it is still sturdy and clean, use it temporarily as a separate supplementary rack with suitable hay.

Good to know

  • This product is a supplementary hay rack and not a substitute for unlimited fresh hay for guinea pigs and rabbits.
  • In addition to hay, the hay rack also contains marigold blossoms and pieces of corn on the cob.
  • Not suitable for chinchillas and degus due to the pieces of corn cob.
  • Check the hay rack regularly for wear, loose parts, and sharp edges.
  • Use the hay rack under supervision, especially with animals that like to destroy things or gnaw heavily.
  • Place the hay rack in a dry and stable location.
  • Remove the product when your animal tries to squeeze into the openings.
