Product description

JR Farm Wild Herbs for Rodents & Rabbits

JR Farm Veldkruiden is a supplementary herbal mix for rodents and dwarf rabbits. The mix contains a varied combination of parsley, oat and wheat flakes, beetroot, pea flakes, alfalfa, narrow-leaved plantain, birch leaf, carrot, marigold, nettle, cornflower, lemon balm, dandelion, peppermint, mountain meadow hay, and flowers.

This mix is especially fun for owners who want to offer extra scent, texture, and variety alongside the normal main food and hay. You can give JR Farm Veldkruiden separately as a small supplement, mix it with hay, or use it as a foraging mix in the enclosure. The various herbs, flowers, flakes, and plant parts invite your animal to sniff, search, and nibble.

JR Farm Veldkruiden is available in several packaging options, including 200 grams, a 1 kg bucket, and 1.25 kg. How long it lasts depends on the animal species and the amount you feed each time. Because this is supplementary food, you feed small amounts. At 5 grams per day, 200 grams will last approximately 40 days.

Why choose JR Farm Veldkruiden?

Rabbits and many rodents spend their days sniffing, searching, nibbling, and exploring. A herbal mix like JR Farm Wild Herbs makes feeding or haymaking more interesting, as your animal encounters various scents, flavors, and textures. This aligns well with natural foraging behavior.

The mix contains parsley, oat flakes, wheat flakes, beetroot, pea flakes, alfalfa, narrow-leaved plantain, birch leaf, and carrot. Additionally, marigold, nettle, cornflower, lemon balm, dandelion, peppermint, mountain meadow hay, rose blossom, and red clover blossom provide a herbaceous and floral variety.

JR Farm Wild Herbs is especially useful for mixing with hay. Some animals eat their hay better when there are small, fragrant pieces mixed in. You can also use the mix in a sniffing mat, foraging tray, or digging area. This way, a small snack immediately becomes a foraging activity.

Because this is supplementary food, you do not feed it as the main food. For rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and degus, hay remains the daily basis. For hamsters, mice, gerbils, and rats, use this herbal mix as a small variation alongside an appropriate main food.

For which animals is this herb mix suitable?

JR Farm Veldkruiden is suitable as a supplementary herb mix for dwarf rabbits and various rodents. Always adjust the quantity to the animal species, size, and normal feeding pattern.

  • Rabbits: as a herb-rich supplement mixed with hay or as a small reward.
  • Guinea pigs: as an alternative to hay and guinea pig food.
  • Hamsters and dwarf hamsters: as a small foraging snack, for example hidden in the enclosure.
  • Mice and gerbils: as a sniffing and searching mix through a foraging area.
  • Rats and pygmy rats: as a small supplement or reward during foraging.
  • Chinchillas and degus: offer deliberately in small quantities as a herb-rich variation.

Usage & dosage

Give JR Farm Veldkruiden as a supplementary snack mix. Sprinkle a small amount over the hay, mix it into a sniffing area, or offer it in a food bowl. For small animals, a pinch or a teaspoon is often enough. For larger animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, you can dose a little more generously, but keep it supplementary.

Do you want to use it for foraging? Then sprinkle small amounts in different places in the enclosure. This way, your animal has to search, and the mix is not eaten all at once from a container.

Allow animals to get used to herb-rich products gradually if they are not yet accustomed to them. Start with a small amount and see how your animal reacts.

How long does one package last?

The duration of use depends on the packaging and how much you give per day. Because JR Farm Veldkruiden is complementary food, small amounts are usually sufficient.

Packaging At 5 grams per day At 10 grams per day
200 grams about 40 days about 20 days
1 kg about 200 days about 100 days
1.25 kg about 250 days about 125 days

This is a practical guideline. Give this mix as a supplement, not as a replacement for main feed or hay.

What does this compound mean?

The composition combines herbs, flowers, flakes, vegetables, and fiber-rich plant parts. This makes this mix attractive as a supplementary herb mix and for enrichment. Parsley, narrow-leaved plantain, nettle, lemon balm, dandelion, and peppermint provide a spicy scent, while marigold, cornflower, rose blossom, and red clover blossom make the mix floral.

Due to the presence of flakes and vegetables, careful dosing is advisable. JR Farm Veldkruiden is at its best as a small supplement: mixed with hay, in a sniffing area, or as a variation during a foraging session.

Good to know

  • This is supplementary food, not a main food.
  • Give small quantities alongside appropriate main feed and, for herbivores, unlimited hay.
  • Store the mix in a dry, cool, and tightly sealed place.
  • Allow animals to get used to this mix gradually if they are not yet familiar with it.
  • Remove any residue when it has become damp or dirty.
