Product description

Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets for Guinea Pigs 180 pieces

Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets have been specially developed for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs cannot produce vitamin C themselves and are therefore dependent on vitamin C from their daily diet. With these tablets, you can easily provide a consistent daily supplement: each tablet contains 40 mg of vitamin C and is easy to dose based on your guinea pig's weight.

The tablets have an orange flavor and are intended as a practical supplement alongside good guinea pig food, unlimited hay, and fresh vegetables. The tablet form allows you to offer vitamin C in a targeted manner, without having to use drops in drinking water, where it is more difficult to see how much your guinea pig is actually ingesting.

Why choose Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets?

For guinea pigs, vitamin C is a daily concern. While many other animals can produce vitamin C themselves, guinea pigs cannot. Therefore, vitamin C must be provided daily through their diet. A good foundation consists of unlimited hay, suitable guinea pig food, and fresh vegetables. Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets can be used alongside this as a targeted supplement.

When it comes to guinea pig supplements, DRD focuses primarily on clarity, dosage, and practical use. These tablets are easy to administer and can be dosed by weight. This makes them clear for novice owners and convenient for experienced guinea pig owners who want to know exactly how much extra vitamin C they are offering.

Why vitamin C is so important for guinea pigs

Guinea pigs need vitamin C daily. Vitamin C plays a role in normal bodily processes, including connective tissue, teeth, and the skeletal system. Because vitamin C is not stored in large quantities, a regular daily supply is important.

That is precisely why a tablet is convenient: you can dose per guinea pig and see better what you are offering. Preferably give the tablet at a fixed time, for example in the morning. This way, vitamin C becomes a recognizable part of the daily care routine.

Instructions for use and dosage

Preferably give the tablet in the morning. You can offer the tablet by hand, mix it with a small portion of food, or break it into pieces if your guinea pig eats that more easily.

Guinea pig Daily dosage
Guinea pig less than 1 kg ½ tablet per day
Guinea pig over 1 kg 1 tablet per day
Pregnant, sick, or recovering guinea pigs Double the dosage according to the instructions for use

Because guinea pigs are social animals and should be kept with other guinea pigs, always dose per guinea pig. For two guinea pigs weighing over 1 kg, therefore, give a total of 2 tablets per day, divided between the animals. Always check that each guinea pig receives its own portion, especially when one animal eats faster or more enthusiastically than the other.

For which animals are Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets suitable?

  • Mouse: not the first choice. These tablets are specifically intended for guinea pigs. For mice, you would prefer to choose a product tailored to small rodents when supplementation is needed.
  • Dwarf hamster: not primarily suitable. Dwarf hamsters have different nutritional needs than guinea pigs and get their basic diet from appropriate dwarf hamster food.
  • Hamster: not the logical target group. For hamsters, good hamster food is the foundation, and this guinea pig supplement is usually not necessary.
  • Gerbil: not the first choice. Gerbils do not need a daily vitamin C tablet like guinea pigs.
  • Dwarf rat: not primarily intended. For dwarf rats, supplementation must always be tailored to the actual size, diet, and needs of the individual animal.
  • Rat: not the logical target group. Rats get their basic nutrition from complete rat food and do not need a guinea pig vitamin C tablet as a standard supplement.
  • Guinea pig: the primary target group. Guinea pigs cannot produce vitamin C themselves and therefore require vitamin C daily through their diet and, if necessary, a suitable supplement.
  • Rabbit: not primarily suitable. Rabbits have different nutritional needs than guinea pigs and this product is not intended as a standard rabbit supplement.
  • Chinchilla: not the first choice. Chinchillas require a simple, fiber-rich diet, and supplements must be chosen carefully.
  • Degu: not the first choice. Degus have specific nutritional needs, and supplements must be chosen consciously and species-appropriately.

Although vitamin C is a well-known nutrient, we clearly position these tablets as a guinea pig product. This provides more certainty when choosing and prevents a supplement from being used too broadly for animals for which it is not the most logical choice.

Compound

Ingredients: sucrose, glucose.

Additives per kg: vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 120,000 mg, of which 40 mg vitamin C per tablet.

Analysis: crude fiber 7.1%, crude fat 0.87%, crude ash 0.19%, moisture 0.84%, calcium 0.06%.

The composition is simple and aimed at a clear vitamin C supplement. Because each tablet contains 40 mg of vitamin C, you can practically adjust the daily amount to your guinea pig's weight.

Good to know

Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets are intended as a supplement to daily guinea pig care. They do not replace unlimited hay, suitable guinea pig food, or fresh vegetables. Do you notice that your guinea pig is eating less, losing weight, is lethargic, seems to be in pain, has difficulty moving, or shows clear signs of illness? Then contact a veterinarian. With guinea pigs, it is important not to wait too long when they are eating less or behaving differently.

Store the tablets in a cool, dry, and tightly closed place. Keep the packaging out of reach of children and always check the expiry date on the packaging.

Frequently asked questions about Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets

What do you use Beaphar Vitamin C Tablets for?

You use these tablets as a daily vitamin C supplement for guinea pigs. Each tablet contains 40 mg of vitamin C and is easy to dose based on your guinea pig's weight.

Why do guinea pigs need vitamin C?

Guinea pigs cannot produce vitamin C themselves. Therefore, they must obtain vitamin C daily through their diet. A tablet can help provide this supplement in a practical and targeted manner.

How many tablets do I give per day?

A guinea pig under 1 kg receives ½ tablet per day. A guinea pig over 1 kg receives 1 tablet per day. For pregnant, sick, or recovering guinea pigs, the dosage is doubled according to the instructions for use.

When is the best time to give the tablet?

Preferably give the tablet in the morning. This way, it becomes a regular part of the daily care routine, and you can easily check whether your guinea pig eats the tablet.

Can I also give these tablets to other animals?

We position these tablets as a product for guinea pigs. For other rodents, rabbits, chinchillas, or degus, a species-specific supplement is usually more logical when extra supplementation is needed.

Are tablets more convenient than drops?

That depends on your guinea pig and your care routine. Tablets are convenient because you can dose per guinea pig and clearly see if the tablet is being eaten. Drops can be pleasant if your guinea pig does not accept tablets.

When should I go to the vet?

Contact a veterinarian if your guinea pig is eating less, losing weight, is lethargic, appears to be in pain, has difficulty moving, or shows clear signs of illness. A supplement supports care but does not replace an examination if there is actually something wrong.

Op zich vonden ze het wel lekker. Ik had 2 cavia's (broertjes), maar door mijn gezondheid (omstandigheden) heb ik de cavia's naar een opvang moeten doen.
