For which animals is the Savic Sputnik suitable?

The Savic Sputnik is primarily a house where the placement determines how logical the product is for your pet. Therefore, do not only look at the animal species, but also at the size, climbing ability, the interior of the enclosure, and the green 'suitable for' logos on the product image.

• Mouse: very suitable as a hanging house in a wire cage. Mice are true climbers and like to use higher sleeping spots as resting and hiding places.
• Dwarf hamster: suitable when the Sputnik is placed low and stable on the bottom. Dwarf hamsters are ground animals and use this house primarily as a hiding place when it is easily accessible.
• Hamster: suitable when the house is positioned low to the floor. Place the Sputnik stably and use it as an open hiding place or extra resting spot in the decor.
• Pygmy rat: suitable as a hanging house in a wire cage. Pygmy rats enjoy climbing and can use the Sputnik as a sleeping, resting, or lookout spot.
• Rat: suitable as a hanging house for rats that fit well in this size. For larger rats or groups, a larger hanging area may be more practical; therefore, carefully check body size, passage, usage, and the 'suitable for' logos on the product image.

For gerbils, plastic makes less sense, as gerbils are strong gnawers and are usually better suited to wooden, ceramic, or natural houses. For guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus, this Sputnik is not the most suitable choice in terms of size and use.

Place low or hang?

The Savic Sputnik can be placed low on the floor or attached to the bars. For hamsters and dwarf hamsters, always choose something low and stable. They are ground animals and primarily need an easily accessible hiding place without the risk of climbing.

For mice, pygmy rats, and rats, you can actually place the Sputnik higher up. These animals are climbers and often enjoy being able to rest, sleep, and observe at various heights. However, ensure that the route to the Sputnik is logical, for example via platforms, ladders, tunnels, branches, or other stable climbing options.

Usage & placement

Position the Sputnik so that your animal can easily get in and out.
