The Getzoo Multi-Chamber House Eduardo 30 cm is a spacious wooden multi-chamber house for mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils. Thanks to the various chambers, open bottom, and roof exit with ladder, this house fits beautifully into a naturally decorated enclosure. Your animal gets multiple sheltered spaces to sleep, nest, store food, or move through quietly.
At DRD, when it comes to multi-room houses, we focus primarily on size, layout, accessibility, placement, and the animal for whom the house makes the real sense. Eduardo has external dimensions of approximately 31 × 25 × 13 cm, making it a great choice for owners looking for a larger wooden house with more possibilities than a simple one-room house.
✔ Multiple rooms for sleeping, nesting, and storing supplies
✔ Flexible layout with separate interior parts
✔ Open bottom, ideal for deep bedding
✔ Roof exit with ladder for an additional route and accessibility
✔ Sturdy plywood and not stapled
✔ Great for hamsterscaping, mousescaping, and gerbilscaping
A multi-chamber house aligns well with the natural behavior of hamsters, mice, and gerbils. Instead of one open space, your animal has multiple rooms and passageways. As a result, the house can be used as a sleeping area, storage room, hiding place, and quiet route within the enclosure.
For hamsters, a multi-room house is often a great base, because hamsters naturally like to use different spaces. One room can be set up as a nesting area, while another is used for food storage or as a passageway. This makes the house not only beautiful but also functional.
Eduardo is particularly interesting because the interior layout is flexible. With the separate interior parts, you can adapt the house to your pet and the furnishing of the enclosure. For example, you can opt for fewer, larger rooms or, conversely, for more smaller spaces. This gives you more control over the structure of the enclosure and makes the house suitable for various types of small rodents.
What makes Eduardo special is that you can design the interior yourself. The exterior is glued for strength, while the interior parts can be placed inside the house. This allows you to build the house to your liking and makes it easier to modify or clean later.
Depending on how you arrange the parts, you can use the house with 2, 3, or more rooms. This is useful when your pet likes a spacious nesting area, or when you want to create multiple small spaces. The rooms are at least approximately 9 × 13 cm, providing sufficient space for small rodents to retreat.
Unused openings can simultaneously aid in air circulation. This is beneficial in a house where your pet uses nesting material or stores supplies. This keeps the house practical, while still allowing your pet to sit in a sheltered spot.
The house comes with a ladder. This ladder can be placed in two different locations. By rotating the roof, you can choose where the roof exit best fits into your layout. This is useful when you want the house to connect to a plateau, route, sand zone, or other scape elements.
The roof exit gives your animal an extra route to the outside. This makes the house more lively to use and helps to make the enclosure less linear. Such an extra exit can work particularly well in hamsterscaping, as you can create multiple natural routes through the enclosure.
Always place the house low and stable. The roof may be part of the layout, but the house must remain standing firmly and not be able to tip over or sag.
This house is not suitable as a practical hiding place for pygmy rats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and degus. The chambers and openings are too small for them. For these animals, you would prefer to choose a larger house, a wider tunnel, or a sturdier platform that better suits their body size and way of moving.
In a hamsterscaping enclosure, Eduardo can serve very well as a central resting place. Place the house on a stable base and gradually build the bedding around it. Thanks to the open bottom, your hamster can use the substrate and nesting material themselves and arrange it according to their own preference.
The house comes into its own when connected to other elements of the enclosure. Think of a sand bath, cork tunnel, running wheel, foraging area, or a natural route past moss and wooden elements. This way, the house does not become a standalone object, but a logical part of the enclosure.
For dwarf hamsters, Eduardo is spacious and easy to navigate. For Syrian hamsters/golden hamsters, you can adjust the interior layout to create a larger nesting chamber. Always consider your hamster's body size and how much nesting material your pet likes to bring along.
For mice, a multi-chamber house is interesting because it provides multiple sheltered spots and routes. Mice like structure in their enclosure and enjoy using various entrances, passageways, and resting places. You can combine Eduardo with bridges, tunnels, platforms, and nesting material.
For gerbils, Eduardo can become part of a natural setup with deep bedding, a sand bath, and sturdy wooden elements. Gerbils can use the house as a route, a hiding place, or part of their digging environment. Because gerbils enjoy gnawing and moving bedding, it is wise to regularly check that the house remains stable and tidy.
The open bottom is a practical advantage in an enclosure with a lot of bedding. Your animal walks directly on its own surface and can bring in its own nesting material. This works particularly well for hamsters, as they like to build their own sleeping area.
In a scape with deep bedding, a multi-chamber house may sink somewhat when there is a lot of digging. Therefore, place the house on a sturdy, level base or use suitable Getzoo feet when working with a deep digging layer. This ensures the chambers and entrances remain more accessible.
Do you use a deep layer of bedding? Then the Getzoo legs can come in handy. You place them under a matching Getzoo multi-chamber house so that the house stands higher and more stable in the bedding. This ensures that the chambers and entrances remain more accessible when your pet is actively digging.

Always place Eduardo stably and low in the enclosure. A sturdy placement is especially important when your pet goes out onto the roof or via the ladder. Place the house on a level surface and gradually build up the bedding around the house.
Because the interior is constructed from separate parts, the house is easier to inspect and clean. Gently remove soiled nesting material and check the chambers for stash, moisture, or dirt. Clean the wood thoroughly with a dry or slightly damp cloth and allow it to dry completely before replacing it.
Do not use too much water and do not submerge the house. Wood is a natural material and looks its best when kept dry and clean. Check the house regularly for wear, loose parts, and gnaw marks. Gerbils, in particular, may use wooden houses more intensively.
Eduardo is a spacious and flexible multi-chamber house for small rodents. It offers many layout options for dwarf hamsters and mice. For Syrian hamsters/golden hamsters, it is advisable to divide the chambers somewhat more spaciously so that your hamster can turn around comfortably and bring in nesting material.
Because the house has an open base, it works well in combination with ground cover. In deep excavation layers, suitable legs or a firm base are useful to prevent entrances from becoming clogged or the house from tilting.
Use the roof and the ladder as a low, stable route. Do not place the house so high that falling or tipping over becomes a risk. Regularly check that the house is still standing firmly and that all parts remain in good condition.
