The Trixie Bath Mat is a soft microfiber mat for guinea pigs and rabbits. The long microfibers feel pleasant under the paws and can help keep paws and bellies cleaner and drier when your pet walks on or lies on the mat.
When it comes to mats, DRD focuses primarily on practical use: where does your guinea pig or rabbit like to lie, where do paws get wet or dirty quickly, and which spot do you want to keep clean more easily? This bath mat is nice as a soft resting place, paw mat, or partial bedding, provided your animal does not gnaw on the material or pull loose fibers.
✔ Extra soft microfiber for comfortable paws
✔ Nice as a resting place or partial ground cover
✔ Helps keep paws and bellies cleaner and drier
✔ Absorbs moisture and dries relatively quickly
✔ Suitable for use on underfloor heating
✔ Washable at 40°C
A bath mat is handy in places where guinea pigs and rabbits like to walk, rest, or just plop down. Thanks to the long microfibers, the mat feels soft and provides more grip than a smooth floor. This is especially pleasant in a run, at a designated resting spot, or in a place where you want to make the surface more comfortable.
For guinea pigs, the mat can be nice as a soft resting place or as an extra mat in a section of the enclosure. For rabbits, the mat works well in a run, rabbit room, or quiet corner. The mat is primarily intended for animals that leave fabric materials alone.
The Trixie Bath Mat is therefore not a chewing material, nor is it a substitute for proper bedding or a toilet area. It is a comfortable addition to places where you want to provide extra softness, grip, or protection.
For other rodents, we prefer not to include this bath mat as a standard recommendation. Mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils primarily require a thick, diggable bedding layer. Rats, chinchillas, degus, and ferrets may gnaw, pull, or destroy fabric materials more intensively. For these animals, other, species-specific bedding and enclosure setups are usually more logical.
The Trixie Bath Mat is available in two sizes. Choose the size based on where you want to use the mat.
Undecided between two sizes? Then look at your animal's behavior. If your guinea pig or rabbit always lies in one fixed spot, the smaller size is often sufficient. If you want to soften a larger surface or provide space for multiple animals at the same time, the larger size is more practical.
The long microfibers can help keep paws cleaner and drier when animals walk over the mat. This is useful when your pet has just come out of a water corner, litter box, or run, or when you want to create a soft transition between different parts of the interior.
For guinea pigs, the mat can also help prevent their bellies from getting wet or dirty as quickly in their favorite resting spots. For long-haired guinea pigs, a soft, dry spot can be especially pleasant, as the fur is less likely to drag along a wet or rough surface.
Use the mat appropriately. It is not a substitute for a well-established, dry, and hygienic bedding, but a nice addition in areas where extra comfort is desired.
The bath mat can be used as a comfortable resting place or as partial bedding. For example, place it in a corner of the run, under a favorite resting spot, or in a place where your guinea pig or rabbit likes to relax.
For guinea pigs and rabbits, the mat can be particularly nice in combination with other bedding, a toilet corner, or a permanent hay corner. Is the mat often used as a potty spot? Then an extra absorbent underlay beneath the bath mat is advisable.
Do not use the mat in places where it constantly gets wet without being able to replace or wash it regularly. A soft mat remains most comfortable when it stays dry, clean, and fresh.
The bath mat absorbs moisture and helps better protect the surface, but it is not intended as a completely waterproof pee mat. If animals urinate on it, moisture may eventually seep through the underside.
For frequent urination, combining it with a Nappy Potty Training Mat as an underlay is ideal. The bath mat remains the soft top layer for your guinea pig or rabbit to walk or lie on, while the Nappy underneath helps to absorb excess moisture. Always place the Nappy completely under the bath mat so that your pet cannot reach it directly.
Does your guinea pig or rabbit have frequent puddles in the same spot? Then place a Nappy Toilet Training Mat under the bath mat as an extra absorbent backup. The Nappy is not intended to be used in an accessible location, but works particularly well under a secure top layer.
Absorbent underlay for under fleece, floor mats, pee pads, or this bath mat. Especially useful for stubborn urine spots or when you want to provide extra protection for the floor.
The bath mat is also suitable for use on underfloor heating. This can be pleasant for guinea pigs and rabbits who like to lie in a warm, soft spot. However, always ensure that your animal can choose where to lie. Therefore, also provide cooler or neutral spots in the same room.
Do not use the mat as the sole temperature spot. Rabbits and guinea pigs, in particular, must always be able to switch between different resting spots, depending on what they find comfortable.
The Trixie Bath Mat can be washed at 40°C. Shake the mat well before washing to remove as much hay, hair, and bedding as possible. Due to the long fibers, material can get stuck between them, so shaking it out thoroughly helps keep the washing machine cleaner.
Preferably use a detergent without strong perfume. Let the mat dry thoroughly before putting it back. After washing, always check that the underside, edges, and fibers are still clean.
Replace the mat when the underside becomes damaged, the edges come loose, the fibers wear heavily, or your pet chews on it. A soft mat must remain comfortable, but also be safe to use.
The Trixie Bath Mat pairs well with soft resting areas, runs, and washable bedding for guinea pigs and rabbits. You can combine it with:
Use the Trixie Bath Mat only when your guinea pig or rabbit does not chew on fabric, edges, or fibers. Check regularly for loose fibers, broken edges, a damaged underside, and chew marks. The mat is not 100% waterproof; if there are frequent accidents, it is better to combine it with a Nappy Toilet Training Mat as an underlay. Always place the Nappy under the bath mat so that your pet cannot reach it directly.
The bath mat is suitable for guinea pigs and rabbits, provided they do not chew on the fabric, edges, or fibers.
The bath mat is available in approximately 60 × 50 cm and 100 × 70 cm.
Yes, the mat can be washed at 40°C. Shake out loose hairs, hay, and bedding thoroughly beforehand.
The bath mat helps absorb moisture and better protect the surface, but is not 100% waterproof. For frequent potty breaks, an extra absorbent underlay, such as the Nappy Potty Training Mat, is advisable.
Lay the Nappy flat on the spot you want to protect and place the bath mat completely over it. Ensure that your guinea pig or rabbit cannot reach the Nappy directly, so that the underlay is not shifted, torn, or gnawed on.
Yes, the bath mat is suitable for guinea pigs as a soft resting place, paw pad, or partial bedding. It can be especially pleasant on their favorite resting spots.
Yes, the bath mat can be used in a rabbit run, rabbit room, or resting corner. Make sure your rabbit does not chew on the fibers or edges.
Yes, the mat can be used on underfloor heating. However, always ensure that your pet also has other resting places and can choose where it wants to lie down.
Preferably use the bath mat as a partial bedding, resting place, or paw pad. For the entire enclosure, appropriate furnishings with a toilet area, hay corner, and/or bedding remain important.
Replace the mat when the underside is damaged, edges are coming loose, fibers are coming undone, the mat becomes less pleasant to clean, or your pet is gnawing on it.
The Trixie Bath Mat is a great choice if you are looking for a soft, comfortable mat for guinea pigs and rabbits that do not chew on dust. Thanks to the long microfibers, washability at 40°C, and two available sizes, the mat works well as a paw pad, resting place, or partial bedding. For frequent accidents, it is best combined with a Nappy Potty Training Mat as an absorbent underlay.
